JD Vance to Head US Delegation at Milano Cortina Winter Games
The United States will be represented by Vice President JD Vance at the opening ceremony of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. This announcement was made by President Donald Trump on January 17, 2026. The ceremony is scheduled for February 6, marking the official commencement of the Games, which will continue until February 22.
Leading the delegation alongside Vance will be his wife, Usha Vance, who holds the title of Second Lady of the United States. The official group will also include notable figures such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Ambassador to Italy Tilman Fertitta.
The presence of former Olympic champions adds an exciting dimension to the delegation. Among those attending are ice hockey gold medallists Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson and Monique Lamoureux-Morando, renowned short track speed skating champion Apolo Ohno, and Evan Lysacek, who won gold in figure skating at the 2010 Olympics.
The Winter Games will be hosted in Milan and various northern Italian venues, showcasing a wide array of winter sports and athletes from around the globe. This year’s event promises to attract significant international attention, with the participation of over 90 nations.
