Hermes Launches Travelling Silk Scarf Pop-Up in Singapore
Hermes, the renowned French luxury brand, is set to unveil its travelling silk scarf pop-up, titled The Silky Way, in Singapore on October 23, 2023. Located at Marina Bay Sands, this immersive exhibit celebrates the brand’s iconic silk scarves, which have been a staple of haute couture since their introduction in 1937.
The travelling pop-up will feature a series of interactive installations designed to engage visitors in the rich history and craftsmanship behind Hermes’ silk scarves. Following its Singapore debut, the exhibit is expected to travel to another city in 2026.
Highlights of The Silky Way Exhibit
One of the standout features of The Silky Way is an immersive dome that will showcase a 20-minute animated film. This film follows a woman’s journey around the world, told through the lens of handwritten letters that highlight her adventures. Outside the dome, visitors will find a gallery displaying the various silk scarves featured in the film, each representing different characters and stories.
The exhibit also includes a photo booth where guests can capture their visit on neoprene printouts, adding a contemporary twist to the traditional scarf experience. For those interested in storytelling, a small studio offers a unique auditory experience with a narrative set to a guitar track.
Another intriguing element is a room equipped with a telescope, allowing visitors to glimpse a surprise within the exhibit. Additionally, a cut-out book will detail the artistry of a special scarf, further immersing guests in the world of Hermes.
Engaging Displays and Educational Opportunities
Visitors can explore a Carre Stories wall featuring 24 cards that narrate the individual stories behind different silk scarves, enhancing the educational aspect of the exhibit. A dedicated library corner will also be available, stocked with books on silk scarves, the history of Hermes, and details about past collaborations with prominent artists.
The Silky Way will be open to the public from October 23 to November 5, 2023, with visiting hours from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Guests aged seven and older are encouraged to reserve their slots by visiting Hermes.com. This unique pop-up promises to be an engaging experience for both fashion enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.
