Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026 Trophy Unveiled in Jaipur Ceremony
The trophy for the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour (BPGT) 2026 was officially unveiled on March 18, 2023, in a ceremony held in Jaipur. The event, attended by prominent dignitaries including Diya Kumari, Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, and Jitendra Dudi, Collector of Pune District, marks a significant milestone in promoting professional cycling in India.
The unveiling ceremony also featured notable attendees such as Madan Rathore, Member of Parliament from Rajasthan; Niraj K. Pawan, Secretary of Sports, Rajasthan; and Onkar Singh, Chairman of the Cycling Federation of India. The gathering highlighted the collaborative efforts to elevate India’s status in the international cycling arena.
Significance of the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour
Organized by the Pune District Administration with support from the Government of Maharashtra, the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026 is set to be India’s premier international cycling event. It is distinguished as the country’s first-ever UCI 2.2 classified road race, attracting elite cyclists from around the world to compete on Indian terrain. This event not only exemplifies sporting excellence but also positions Pune as a key destination on the global cycling map.
The trophy itself, crafted by the renowned Tambat Aali community of Pune, symbolizes heritage and resilience, representing eight historic forts and the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Its unveiling has sparked significant enthusiasm among cycling fans and the local community, underscoring Jaipur’s importance in the national sports landscape.

In her remarks, Diya Kumari emphasized the growing interest in cycling and the importance of India hosting large-scale sports events. She stated, “It’s good to see India embracing newer sports and showcasing its organisational skills to host large sports events. The Pune Grand Tour 2026 is one such step – a first-ever UCI classified race in India, which will elevate the status of professional cycling in India.”
Jitendra Dudi, who is also the Race In-Charge, shared insights into the planning behind the event. He noted that the Pune Grand Tour 2026 is the result of six months of dedicated work aimed at establishing a unique sporting property for India. He expressed ambition for the country to eventually host a UCI Pro Race, drawing inspiration from prestigious events like the Tour de France.
