Asian Youth Unite in Nanjing to Shape a Sustainable Future

The inaugural “Dialogue with the Future for Asian Youth from Sister-cities” event commenced on May 24, 2025, in Nanjing, China. Over a thousand international students from nearly 30 countries gathered for a dynamic exchange focused on sustainable development and cultural diversity. The event, co-hosted by the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation, the Jiangsu Association for the Development of International Communication at Colleges and Universities, and the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, aimed to foster cross-cultural dialogue under the theme “New Asian Generation: Technology, Culture, and a Sustainable Future.”

Participants engaged in a rich blend of academic discourse and cultural celebration. Student-led performances highlighted the artistic heritage shared across the region, showcasing traditional music, dance, and crafts. A notable aspect of the event was the certification of select attendees as Asian Youth Media Envoys. This initiative empowers young storytellers to share their narratives, bridging connections between their home countries.

Keynote addresses delivered by professors from the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Shanghai International Studies University addressed significant topics such as the intersection of brain science and artificial intelligence. These insights emphasized the importance of cross-cultural skills in enhancing global governance.

Celebrating Diversity and Cultural Identity

The event illustrated the principle of “Unity in Diversity.” Students adorned in traditional attire shared signature foods and cultural practices, creating a vibrant mosaic of Asian cultures within the venue. Roundtable discussions provided a platform for participants to explore pressing issues, including the unique cultural identities of Asian universities and the challenges posed by an AI-driven world.
