Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has been diagnosed with variations in heart rate after being admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai due to symptoms of giddiness. The hospital announced the diagnosis on July 24, 2023, following a series of medical investigations that included a therapeutic procedure.

The statement from Apollo Hospitals indicated that a diagnostic angiogram had been performed on the Chief Minister, revealing no abnormalities. This procedure was conducted under the supervision of a committee led by senior interventional cardiologist Dr. G. Sengottuvelu. Currently, Stalin is reported to be in stable health.

Despite his hospitalization, Stalin continues to manage his administrative duties. He has maintained communication with Chief Secretary Muruganandam and has reviewed ongoing government programmes, particularly the flagship public grievance redressal camps titled ‘#WithYou_Stalin’ that are active across the state.

Sources within the hospital stated that Stalin has signed several important documents and provided instructions to district Collectors and officials through video conferencing. This ongoing engagement has alleviated concerns among political leaders and the general public regarding his health and ability to govern.

The medical team has expressed optimism about Stalin’s recovery, projecting that he will return to his regular routine within two days. They emphasized that the early detection of his condition and the timely intervention played a crucial role in preventing serious complications.

Stalin, aged 72, was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on the morning of July 24 after experiencing uneasiness and giddiness earlier in the week. The situation initially raised alarms among constituents and political circles, but updates from the hospital and the Chief Minister’s own communications have helped to reassure the public.

As the situation develops, the focus remains on Stalin’s health and his capacity to lead the state amidst these challenges.
