Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council Hosts Royal Oman Police Delegation
The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) completed a significant four-day familiarisation visit with senior officials from the Royal Oman Police (ROP) from October 21 to 24, 2025. Led by Brigadier Dr Naseer Al-Manthery, the Director General of Medical Services for Security Services, this visit aimed to examine Malaysia’s healthcare infrastructure and patient coordination services.
The engagement marks an important phase in the collaboration between MHTC and ROP, which began in January 2025. During initial discussions, both organizations explored structured healthcare solutions tailored to the medical needs of Omani security personnel and their families. The recent familiarisation programme provided ROP leaders with valuable insights into Malaysia’s clinical capabilities.
Among the highlights of the visit were tours of notable healthcare facilities, including KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital, Prince Court Medical Centre, the PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre Tun Abdul Razak in Melaka, and Sunway Medical Centre. ROP representatives engaged with hospital leadership to discuss key areas such as referral pathways, international patient services, and collaborative opportunities in clinical training and medical exchange programmes.
These discussions aim to enhance professional development and medical expertise between Malaysia and Oman. The strengthening of these ties is seen as beneficial for establishing long-term partnerships in healthcare excellence.
Suriaghandi Suppiah, Chief Executive Officer of MHTC, commented on the visit, stating, “Malaysia’s healthcare system delivers clinical excellence with efficient patient facilitation and care coordination. This visit demonstrates our readiness to support Omani patients and strengthens our government-to-government cooperation. Since our initial engagement with ROP in January, we have worked to create practical pathways for Omani security personnel to access Malaysian healthcare services.”
Brigadier Dr Naseer Al-Manthery echoed this sentiment, saying, “This visit has given us direct insight into Malaysia’s healthcare capabilities and patient coordination systems. The clinical expertise we observed at these hospitals, combined with the structured approach to international patient care, confirms Malaysia’s capacity to support our medical needs. We look forward to strengthening this partnership and establishing clear referral pathways for our personnel and their families.”
The familiarisation visit precedes the upcoming Malaysia Healthcare Week in Oman, set to take place from October 29 to November 5, 2025. During this event, MHTC will promote Malaysian healthcare services to Omani patients and stakeholders, further solidifying their commitment to serving as a comprehensive one-stop centre for international patient referrals.
MHTC’s ongoing initiatives are aligned with the **Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026** campaign, aimed at showcasing Malaysia’s integrated approach to international patient care and reinforcing its position as a leading global healthcare destination. The council continues to work towards enhancing the healthcare travel ecosystem, ensuring seamless access for international patients to its network of member hospitals and specialized services.
