Garmin and Apollo HealthAxis Enhance Digital Health Collaboration in India

Garmin India and Apollo HealthAxis have expanded their collaboration to improve health monitoring and chronic disease management across India. Announced on August 22, 2025, in Hyderabad, this partnership marks the next phase of their strategic relationship established in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the Garmin Health Summit in 2024.
The enhanced collaboration integrates Apollo’s Total Health program’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative with the Garmin Health API. This integration enables the deployment of Garmin smartwatches and fitness trackers in rural areas of India, aiming to monitor chronic diseases such as diabetes. A significant aspect of this initiative is a collaborative research study that will examine how continuous health tracking can improve health outcomes in underserved communities.
Mr. Juha Villanen, Head of B2B & Partnerships for Garmin in EMEA Emerging Markets and India, emphasized the potential of this technology, stating, “At Garmin, we believe that technology can help advance preventive healthcare. Our collaboration with Apollo HealthAxis is a significant step forward in our efforts to provide actionable, real-time health data that complements clinical expertise.” He added that this initiative would fundamentally change how individuals in India engage with their health on a daily basis.
In urban markets, customers purchasing select Garmin fitness trackers now have access to Apollo ProHealthTM, an AI-driven program that collects health data, predicts disease risk, and offers personalized lifestyle recommendations. Additionally, certain Apollo Health Plans will bundle Garmin wearables with their services, creating a more seamless health experience for users.
Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Group, underscored the importance of this partnership, stating, “We’ve always believed that healthcare should not be confined to hospitals alone – it should reach people wherever they are. This partnership with Garmin is another step in that journey.” She expressed that the integration of wearable technology with Apollo’s health programs empowers individuals to take charge of their well-being, particularly in communities that often lack access to essential healthcare services.
Dr. Sai Praveen Haranath, Senior Pulmonologist at Apollo Hospitals and Senior Vice President of Medical & Strategy at Apollo HealthAxis, highlighted the collaboration’s aim to create a comprehensive health experience. “By combining Garmin’s advanced wearable technology with clinical programs like ProHealth and Total Health, we can personalize care and extend quality healthcare to those who need it most,” he said. The advanced biometric tracking features of Garmin devices, which monitor key metrics such as heart rate variability, sleep, stress, respiration, and physical activity, align seamlessly with Apollo’s established medical diagnostics and advisory systems.
This strategic collaboration not only redefines the approach to wellness in India but also sets a new direction for digital health within one of the world’s fastest-growing healthcare markets. With a shared commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility, Garmin and Apollo HealthAxis are poised to make a significant impact on health outcomes across urban and rural communities.
