DKSH Healthcare Unveils Whitepaper Series on APAC Outsourcing Trends
DKSH Healthcare has launched a comprehensive three-part whitepaper series aimed at assisting healthcare and life science companies in navigating the evolving landscape of the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The series, titled “2025 Whitepaper Series on Commercial Go-To-Model Trends,” explores key industry trends and the pressures influencing commercial strategies amid a burgeoning USD 10 billion healthcare outsourcing opportunity.
Singapore, December 10, 2025 – The whitepaper series illustrates how strategic partnerships in Commercial Outsourcing are adapting to promote sustainable growth, improve patient access, and enhance operational agility. As healthcare companies grapple with shifting demands and regulatory complexities, the insights provided by the series aim to guide organizations in reassessing their go-to-market approaches.
The first section of the series investigates the shortcomings of traditional commercial models, which have struggled to keep pace with the dynamic healthcare environment marked by fragmented regulations and rising patient expectations. Meanwhile, the second part focuses on evaluating prospective partners and identifying which product portfolios and commercial functions can yield the greatest value through outsourcing. The final installment outlines the necessary capabilities, governance structures, data readiness, and digital tools essential for maintaining successful partnerships over time.
Research conducted for the series surveyed over 50 senior leaders from the pharmaceutical, biotech, and MedTech sectors. The findings reveal that a significant 90% of executives currently outsource some aspect of their operations, with 62% reporting an increase in outsourcing over the past three years.
“The APAC healthcare landscape is changing, and our research shows that traditional commercial models are no longer enough to meet the growing demands of patients in our region,” stated Patrik Grande, Vice President and Commercial Outsourcing Head, APAC, at DKSH Healthcare. “Commercial Outsourcing is emerging as a strategic go-to-market approach because it enables faster market access, operational flexibility, and compliance excellence. It is not just about reducing costs; it is about unlocking growth and resources.”
Addressing Challenges in the APAC Healthcare Sector
Despite the opportunities in the APAC healthcare market, significant challenges persist. The region, which houses half of the global population, remains underfunded in terms of healthcare investment. The healthcare landscape is expanding, but this growth is inconsistent, characterized by fragmented systems, complex regulations, and unequal access to new therapies.
While some markets within APAC are advancing rapidly, others continue to struggle with affordability and infrastructure issues. According to industry projections, the pharmaceutical market in APAC, excluding China, Japan, and India, is expected to grow by approximately 4% annually from 2023 to 2027, eventually approaching USD 100 billion. This growth, however, lags behind some Western markets, as the lengthy and costly global commercialization timelines often deprioritize the region, compounded by geopolitical and economic challenges.
Traditional commercial models and in-house affiliates frequently lack the speed, scalability, and efficiency required in this competitive landscape, resulting in delayed product launches and missed opportunities for patients in need of timely therapies.
Insights from Industry Leaders
The launch event for the whitepaper series brought together nearly 100 healthcare leaders in Singapore, where DKSH experts presented commercial insights alongside panel discussions moderated by EY Parthenon. During the discussions, Reuben Ong, Vice President at DKSH Healthcare in Singapore, emphasized the importance of Commercial Outsourcing for global healthcare companies.
“One example was when DKSH partnered with a leading global healthcare company to transition to a commercial outsourcing model. We grew their portfolio by 25%, consistently achieved performance targets, and, most importantly, improved healthcare accessibility to patients across the region,” Ong stated.
The collective insights from the whitepaper series and the event suggest a significant shift in the APAC healthcare landscape. Organizations that prioritize strong partnerships, invest in smart capabilities, and implement locally grounded strategies are poised to drive the next wave of access and innovation in the region.
DKSH Healthcare is committed to supporting its partners by leveraging its expertise and scale to navigate these changes and unlock sustainable growth across Asia-Pacific. The “2025 Whitepaper Series on Commercial Go-To-Model Trends” is now available for download, providing valuable resources for companies looking to enhance their commercial strategies in this evolving marketplace.
