Anytime Fitness Expands Taiwan Presence with New Regional Agents
Anytime Fitness, a leader in the global fitness franchise sector, is accelerating its expansion in Asia with the appointment of new regional agents for Taiwan. This strategic move aims to capitalise on the growing fitness market in Taiwan, which is recognised for its significant potential and dynamic consumer base.
Strategic Growth in Asia
With over 5,600 clubs in 40 countries, Anytime Fitness remains the largest and fastest-growing fitness franchise worldwide. Its growth in Asia is spearheaded by Inspire Brands Asia (IBA), the exclusive regional master franchisee for several countries, including Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand. The region currently boasts more than 520 clubs, positioning it as Anytime Fitness’ third-largest international market, following Japan and Australia.
Inspire Brands Asia has established a robust presence, operating over 175 clubs in the Philippines, more than 150 clubs in Singapore, and around 100 clubs in Malaysia. Moreover, Indonesia has emerged as the largest 24-hour gym chain in the region, with over 50 clubs serving its community.
New Leadership for Taiwan Expansion
In a significant development, Anytime Fitness announced the appointment of two experienced franchisees, Lei and Calixto, as regional agents for Taiwan. Their combined expertise in operational excellence and consumer insight is expected to accelerate the brand’s growth in this promising market. Together, they aim to open a dozen new Anytime Fitness clubs within the next year, marking one of the most ambitious expansion initiatives in Taiwan to date.
Johannes Raadsma, Co-Founder and Group President of Inspire Brands Asia, highlighted the importance of the Taiwan opportunity, stating, “Taiwan is one of the most mature, well-penetrated fitness markets in Asia, with an estimated 6% gym penetration. There remains substantial potential as we see a clear space for 24-hour, community-based gyms.” He further noted that the current market is dominated by larger, intimidating formats, positioning Anytime Fitness as a welcoming alternative through its inclusive brand ethos of “Coaching, Caring, Connecting.”
With the backing of Inspire Brands Asia’s regional strength and Anytime Fitness’ global reputation, the new leadership aims to reinforce the brand’s position as a community-driven fitness network in Taiwan. This initiative is expected to foster a culture of health and wellness, making fitness more accessible to a broader audience.
