K-pop star Wonyoung has publicly declared her love for durian, a fruit often referred to as the “King of Fruits.” On September 21, 2023, during a chat on the fan messaging app Bubble, the 21-year-old member of the popular girl group Ive revealed her exciting experience of tasting the fruit for the first time after an event in Macau.

Wonyoung expressed her enthusiasm by sharing that she had asked her manager to purchase durian, having wanted to try it properly. “Upon receiving it, the scent went straight into my nose without warning,” she wrote. Initially, the smell had been off-putting to her, prompting her to wish it away. However, after tasting it, she found it to be “really sweet, creamy and soft.” She emphasized that this unique flavor is not commonly found in Korea.

Wonyoung’s experience with durian is not entirely new; she and her fellow group members had previously sampled durian pudding during their visit to Singapore in 2023.
