Vignesh Karthick Reflects on ‘Adiyae’ Two-Year Milestone
Director Vignesh Karthick marked the two-year anniversary of his film, ‘Adiyae’, with a heartfelt post on social media, where he also apologized to fellow director Venkat Prabhu for a delayed decision. The film, which features G V Prakash and Gouri G Kishen, has left a significant mark on Karthick, as he reflected on the memories and experiences gained during its production.
In his Instagram message dated August 25, 2023, Karthick expressed his affection for ‘Adiyae’, stating, “Two years of ‘ADIYAE’, a movie that will remain close to heart always.” He described his collaboration with G V Prakash as enjoyable, noting that working with the actor felt like partnering with a friend, which fostered a comfortable atmosphere on set.
Karthick also praised the film’s music, composed by Justin Prabhakaran. He reminisced about the joyful composing sessions, highlighting the song “Vaa Senthazhini” as a memorable piece of the project. Reflecting on his directorial experience with Venkat Prabhu, Karthick shared, “Directing @venkat_prabhu Sir: (I) was a fan of his movies before working with him, but after working with him, became a fan for how simple and down to earth a human being he is. Love you sir.”
The director’s apology to Prabhu was a notable aspect of his post. He admitted, “I owe you an apology for delaying a decision, but I was too confused at that point and because of the amount of respect I have for you, saying ‘NO’ to you was almost impossible for me.” Karthick’s admiration for Prabhu deepened throughout their collaboration, and he emphasized that his respect had only grown.
Karthick also took the opportunity to thank his production team, reflecting on the challenges they faced. He commented, “Probably Adiyae will be the most memorable film for us (the direction team), due to various reasons.” He acknowledged the lessons learned from navigating difficult relationships within the team, stating, “The journey taught me betrayals, toxicity, how people can be manipulative, two faced etc. If not for my team, I would have never overcome it.”
Appreciating the producer, Sai Sidharth, Karthick described the experience as a dream collaboration, praising the attention to detail, hospitality, and overall support provided during the project. While he expressed a desire for the film to have achieved blockbuster status, he acknowledged its success, noting that it grossed double its investment, which he considered an accomplishment.
Karthick concluded his reflection by emphasizing that the lessons learned during the making of ‘Adiyae’ would inform his future projects. His journey with the film, despite its challenges, has contributed significantly to his growth as a director in the competitive film industry.
