Smashbox Launches Photo Finish Primer at Magic Castle Dinner
Smashbox Cosmetics celebrated the launch of its new Photo Finish Pore Vanishing Primer with an exclusive dinner at the renowned Magic Castle in Los Angeles on October 29, 2025. The event drew a select group of Australian creators, journalists, and brand associates based in Los Angeles. This gathering aimed to enhance brand and product awareness while nurturing relationships within the influencer community.
The enchanting setting of the Magic Castle, known for its whimsical atmosphere, provided a fitting backdrop for showcasing the transformative qualities of the new primer. Key attendees included Australian journalist Isabelle Truman and influencers Eden Kannourakis, Millie Sykes, Paige De Cinque, and Kat Moses. Smashbox founder and acclaimed photographer Davis Factor was also present, gifting each guest a signed copy of his book, Make Shit Happen.
“I’ve always wanted to go to the Magic Castle, and being there with such an iconic brand was the perfect match,” said Truman. “I loved meeting Davis and the team and learning about the new primer; it was such a magical experience.” Kannourakis added, “I’m sometimes skeptical of primers, but this one really does what it says—it makes my skin and makeup look flawless!”
The evening not only generated engaging ‘Get Ready With Me’ content but also fostered genuine connections between Smashbox and the creator community. This event marked the first time Smashbox targeted Australian and New Zealand markets with a Los Angeles-based gathering, as noted by Felix Backhaus, Smashbox Senior Brand Manager of International Markets. “Smashbox’s home is LA, and it’s been so great to engage with Australian influencers and editors in our own backyard,” he remarked.
The Photo Finish Pore Vanishing Primer is designed as a lightweight, oil-free face primer. It aims to instantly blur the appearance of pores and secure makeup for up to 12 hours. The product controls shine, smooths skin texture, and provides a velvety matte finish without leaving a white cast or clogging pores. This primer is now available at MECCA, Smashbox’s exclusive retail partner in Australia and New Zealand, with a suggested retail price of $59 AUD and $66 NZD.
Founded in 1990 by Davis Factor, Smashbox began as a creative hub for the entertainment industry before officially launching its cosmetics line in 1996. The brand’s first product, the Photo Finish Smooth & Blur Primer, has become a cult favorite, known for enhancing makeup longevity and appearance. Today, Smashbox continues to deliver high-performance makeup that embodies its legacy of creativity and artistry.
