Sing-Along Version of KPop Demon Hunters Debuts on Netflix August 25
Fans of the animated film KPop Demon Hunters can look forward to a unique viewing experience as Netflix announced the release of a sing-along version on August 25, 2023, at 15:00 Singapore time. This new format allows audiences to join the characters Huntrix and the Saja Boys in singing along to popular tracks from the film, including “Golden,” “Takedown,” “Free,” “Your Idol,” and “What It Sounds Like.”
The announcement comes shortly after the film’s successful theatrical release in five countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom on August 23 and 24. Industry projections indicate that during this limited theatrical run, KPop Demon Hunters grossed approximately US$18 million at the box office, further solidifying its status as a phenomenon in the entertainment industry.
Record-Breaking Success
Since its release on June 20, 2023, KPop Demon Hunters has shattered numerous records. The film follows the K-pop girl group Huntrix, consisting of members Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who secretly operate as demon hunters. Their latest challenge arises when a rival boy group, the Saja Boys, emerges, posing significant threats that the trio must confront.
Netflix revealed last month that KPop Demon Hunters has become the most-watched original animated film of all time on its platform. The film’s soundtrack has also achieved remarkable success, with the standout single “Golden” making history as the first song by a girl group to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart since Destiny’s Child.
A Global Cultural Impact
The film’s impact extends beyond its impressive box office numbers and streaming success. The soundtrack features contributions from popular artists, including a cover by members of the well-known group Twice, specifically Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung, which has further boosted the film’s visibility and appeal.
As audiences around the world prepare to sing along to their favorite tracks from KPop Demon Hunters, the film continues to demonstrate the growing influence of K-pop on global entertainment. With its mix of engaging storytelling, vibrant music, and cultural resonance, the sing-along release is poised to attract both fans of the film and newcomers alike.
