Rebecca Lim Announces Expectation of Second Child, Due May 2026
Actress Rebecca Lim has revealed that she is expecting her second child, with a due date set for May 2026. Lim shared the joyous news in an interview with CNA Lifestyle, expressing her excitement about expanding her family with husband Matthew Webster.
Family Growth and Personal Reflections
Lim, who welcomed her first child a year and a half ago, shared that the couple had contemplated adding to their family but had not pressured themselves. “We really just let nature take its course, and we are very blessed,” she stated. Though the gender of the new baby has been determined, Lim mentioned that they have yet to reveal it, opting instead for a more intimate celebration at home rather than a large gender reveal party.
The actress reflected on the differences between her first and second pregnancies. “The first child gets more fanfare,” she chuckled, recalling how she filmed reaction videos for her family during her first pregnancy. In contrast, for this pregnancy, she has only recorded a couple of videos, highlighting the busy life of parenting a toddler.
Lim has faced challenges during her second pregnancy, including increased morning sickness and minor complications in her first trimester. “I have zero time for any of that now,” she explained, referring to the self-care routines she enjoyed before becoming a mother. Instead, she is focusing on maintaining a healthy diet for the well-being of her family.
Shared Experiences and Future Aspirations
A particularly poignant aspect of this pregnancy is that Lim’s sister is also expecting, albeit a few months ahead. “It feels like he’s still here,” Lim said, reflecting on the memory of her late father. This shared experience with her sister has offered her comfort and joy during this significant time.
Lim’s perspective on motherhood has evolved since giving birth to her first child. “I never knew that I could love someone else so much,” she shared, acknowledging the emotional depth that comes with parenthood. As she prepares for her second child, she finds herself reflecting on how her priorities have shifted. “Do I want it or do I need it?” has become her new mantra, as she focuses on baby-related purchases over personal items.
While her first child is still too young to grasp the concept of becoming an older sibling, Lim is keen to involve him in the process. “We get him to do the ‘sayang’ motion on my tummy,” she said, hoping to foster a connection between her children even before the new arrival.
Despite the demands of pregnancy, Lim remains dedicated to her work. She is set to be the first-ever ambassador for the Singapore International Film Festival but has had to make adjustments to her schedule, including stepping back from a project that coincides with her due date. “You win some, you learn some,” she remarked, expressing hope for future opportunities.
As Lim approaches her milestone of turning 40 next year, her journey into motherhood continues to unfold. With her second child on the way, she is eager to embrace the joys and challenges that lie ahead. “I don’t know how much more it can expand with No 2 on the way, but I know it will,” she concluded, radiating the warmth and excitement of a parent awaiting a new chapter in life.
