Rebecca Lim Announces Exciting News: Second Baby on the Way
Actress Rebecca Lim has announced that she is expecting her second child, with a due date in May 2026. The 39-year-old star shared her joy during an interview with CNA Lifestyle, revealing that she is four months pregnant. Lim and her husband, Matthew Webster, had contemplated expanding their family since the birth of their first child, but they approached the decision without pressure.
Lim expressed their relaxed attitude towards family growth, stating, “We really just let nature take its course, and we are very blessed.” While the couple has learned the gender of their unborn child, they have yet to reveal it. Lim noted that unlike her first pregnancy, she does not anticipate hosting a gender reveal party this time around, joking that the demands of parenting a toddler leave little time for elaborate celebrations.
Reflecting on the differences between her two pregnancies, Lim shared that her experience with morning sickness during this pregnancy has been notably more severe. She remarked, “I have zero time for any of that now,” referring to the self-care routines she enjoyed before becoming a mother. With a toddler to care for, her focus has shifted to maintaining a healthy diet to support her family’s well-being.
Emotional Connections and Family Bonds
A unique aspect of this pregnancy is that Lim’s sister is also expecting, and the two are due around the same time. Lim noted that this coincidence gives her a sense of connection to her late father, saying, “It feels like he’s still here.” She shared how her sister encouraged her to join in on the journey of motherhood, even as Lim initially hesitated due to her ongoing work commitments and personal goals.
Lim candidly discussed her struggle with weight management after her first pregnancy, stating that she was on the path to achieving her target weight before learning of the new arrival. Despite the challenges, she is embracing her cravings, which have included late-night snacks like kimchi ramyeon noodles.
As she prepares for the arrival of her second child, Lim is also focused on her career. She is set to serve as the ambassador for the Singapore International Film Festival, but acknowledges that some projects will need to be put on hold due to her impending delivery. “I was very gutted because it was a good project,” she said, reflecting on the sacrifices that come with balancing motherhood and her professional life.
Shifting Priorities and New Beginnings
Lim’s perspective on life has evolved significantly since becoming a mother. She now finds herself prioritizing her children over personal desires, stating, “The whole concept has changed.” The actress shared that she hasn’t purchased anything for herself in the past year, as her focus has been entirely on preparing for her growing family.
Her son, still too young to grasp the concept of becoming an older sibling, is already being introduced to the idea through simple gestures. Lim mentioned how they encourage him to show affection to her growing belly, indicating their excitement for the new addition to the family.
As Lim navigates the complexities of pregnancy while managing her career, she remains optimistic about the future. She concluded, “I don’t know how much more it can expand with No 2 on the way, but I know it will.” Lim’s heartfelt reflections illustrate the profound changes that motherhood brings, both personally and professionally, as she prepares to welcome her second child into the world.
