Raj Babbar Mourns Loss of Friend Satish Shah at 74
Veteran actor Raj Babbar expressed his sorrow over the passing of his long-time friend and colleague, Satish Shah, who died on October 25, 2023, at the age of 74. Babbar described Shah’s death as a significant personal loss, reflecting on their decades of friendship in the film and television industry.
In a heartfelt tribute posted on his Instagram account, Babbar shared a photograph of Shah, highlighting the late actor’s vibrant presence and successful career. He wrote, “Satish Shah ji had a luminous presence. A superb actor who had a tremendously successful career. His warmth & wit touched many. His passing away feels like a personal loss as I recount memories of his humour & grace. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who admired his work.”
Shah’s passing was confirmed by filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who announced the news on Instagram. In a video, Pandit noted that Shah had suffered from kidney failure and had suddenly fallen ill at home. He was subsequently taken to Hinduja Hospital in Shivaji Park, where he passed away. Pandit remarked on the impact of Shah’s loss, stating, “It is a huge loss for our industry. I have worked a lot with Satish. Satish is a great man.”
Final Farewell to a Beloved Actor
The funeral for Satish Shah took place at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle West, Mumbai, on October 29, 2023. The event saw a gathering of numerous actors, friends, and admirers who came to pay their last respects. Co-stars from the iconic television series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, including Rupali Ganguly, Sumeet Raghavan, Rajesh Kumar, and Ratna Pathak Shah, were among those in attendance.
In addition to his television colleagues, prominent figures from the film industry, such as Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Supriya Pathak, Deepak Parashar, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Avatar Gill, and filmmaker Rumi Jaffery, also paid tribute to Shah’s legacy.
The actor is remembered not only for his outstanding performances on screen but also for the warmth and humor he brought to his personal relationships. As tributes continue to pour in, it is clear that Shah’s impact on the industry and those who knew him will be felt for years to come.
