Meryl Streep Captivates Milan Fashion Scene for Prada Sequel
Meryl Streep brought her iconic character, Miranda Priestly, back to life on Saturday at the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show in Milan. The event served as a filming location for the highly anticipated sequel to *The Devil Wears Prada*, which is scheduled for release in the spring of 2024. Streep, dressed in Priestly’s signature sunglasses and a striking Dolce & Gabbana vinyl trench coat, entered the theatre surrounded by security and accompanied by Stanley Tucci, who reprises his role as her art director.
During the runway show, Streep’s character was seen consulting with Tucci as they observed the models showcasing the collection. Italian singer Patty Pravo provided the musical backdrop for the event, which added to the vibrant atmosphere. The Dolce & Gabbana press office confirmed that these scenes were filmed specifically for inclusion in the sequel, which has been shooting in various locations around Milan.
Fans of the original film will recognize the setting, reminiscent of a memorable scene where Anne Hathaway’s character asks, “Can you please spell ‘Gabbana?’” This nostalgic nod adds a layer of excitement for audiences eagerly awaiting the sequel.
The tightly edited Spring/Summer 2026 collection featured a diverse array of styles, focusing on nightwear. The collection included cozy men’s pyjamas adorned with rhinestone and embroidered details, as well as elegant black sheer and lace lingerie. Looks were further enhanced with a variety of jackets, ranging from leather and brocade to bold animal prints. Footwear choices varied from eye-catching stilettos to plush slippers, while the standout accessory was a soft and furry bag, perfect for a stylish night out.
As the show concluded, designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana took their customary bow, with Streep and Tucci swiftly whisked backstage. Meanwhile, the real-life fashion crowd had their moment, rushing to the empty runway to capture photos of this unique intersection of fashion and cinema.
In a notable twist, Anna Wintour, Vogue’s global editorial director and the inspiration behind the 2006 film, sat across the runway from Streep. This moment of art imitating life added a meta layer to the event, highlighting the interconnectedness of fashion and film.
The excitement surrounding the sequel continues to build as *The Devil Wears Prada* fans anticipate the film’s release. With Streep and Tucci back in their roles and the glamour of Milan fashion, the upcoming installment promises to deliver a captivating blend of style and storytelling.
