Mediacorp Celebrates Deepavali 2025 with Vibrant Performances
The annual Deepavali countdown show, Amarkala Deepavali 2025, took place on October 19, 2025, at The Theatre at Mediacorp, bringing together live performances, dance, and community spirit to celebrate the Festival of Lights. This year marked the show’s 19th edition, themed Namma Deepavali (Our Deepavali), and featured a family-centric storyline presented by a talented lineup of artists, including Alawdwin Ali, Karthikeyan Somasundaram, Maahes Chandiras, Puravalan Narayanasamy, Shamini G, and Udaya Soundari.
The evening unfolded over more than two hours, showcasing vibrant dance sequences, comedy skits, and musical medleys performed by local artists. Notably, South Indian singer and voice actress Chinmayi added her distinct flair to the celebration. The performances conveyed themes of love, forgiveness, and generosity, embodying the true essence of Deepavali.
The event drew significant attention with the attendance of Edwin Tong, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs, who served as the Guest-of-Honour. Live segments connected viewers to the bustling celebrations in Little India, where hosts Nisha Kumar and Thavanesan Sivananthan engaged audiences with reports from the street festivities.
Mediacorp’s #NammaDeepavali campaign extends beyond the show, encompassing various community and cultural initiatives. Collaborations with organizations such as the Little India Shopkeepers & Heritage Association and the Hindu Endowments Board include events like the Deepavali Light-Up Ceremony and the Utsavam Street Parade.
The celebrations continue as Amarkala Deepavali 2025 was broadcast live on Vasantham and available on mewatch. Additional festive programming will air on Vasantham through October 24, alongside engaging digital content across Mediacorp’s social media platforms, including Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.
This annual event not only highlights the cultural significance of Deepavali but also emphasizes community engagement and the spirit of togetherness as families and friends celebrate this cherished occasion.
