Lions Club of Singapore Lotusia Hosts Inclusive Cinema for 15 Kids

In a remarkable community initiative, the Lions Club of Singapore Lotusia partnered with the MINDS Raintree Special Student Care Centre to provide an inclusive cinema experience for 15 children with intellectual disabilities. This event, titled Inclunema: A Sensory-Friendly Movie Experience, took place on September 11, 2025, at EaglesWings Cinematics located in KAP Mall, Singapore.
The cinema was specifically adapted for this outing, featuring reduced audio levels, softened lighting, and a relaxed seating arrangement tailored to the sensory needs of the children. Each participant, aged between 7 and 18, was accompanied by a volunteer from the Lions Club, ensuring a supportive environment throughout the day. The event featured a screening of an animated film followed by a hosted lunch at Carl’s Jr Singapore.
Jacob Tao, President of the Lions Club of Singapore Lotusia and Co-CEO of Lotusia Group, emphasized the importance of inclusivity, stating, “This outing is about walking the talk, so every child feels included and valued.” The initiative aligns with the club’s mission to foster structured, inclusive, and values-based philanthropy within Singapore’s evolving social landscape.
Enhancing Community Connections
The Lions Club of Singapore Lotusia, established in 2023 under the charter of Lions Clubs International, is dedicated to bridging business, social responsibility, and community service. The event was made possible through the collaboration of various partners, with special recognition given to Mr. Xie Wenfei, a fellow Lions Club member who provided sponsorship and support. Additional thanks were extended to Carl’s Jr Singapore for their quality food offerings and to EaglesWings Cinematics for creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
Many of the participating children had their first opportunity to enjoy a movie outing tailored specifically to their needs. During the film, some clapped and swayed to the music, while others shared smiles and laughter with their buddies over lunch. Simple interactions, like high-fives and shared moments, became cherished celebrations of connection and trust.
While Singapore has made significant progress in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities through education and family services, experiences like Inclunema remain rare. This initiative highlights that true inclusion extends beyond policies; it involves creating shared experiences that foster a sense of belonging for everyone.

The Lions Club of Singapore Lotusia intends to continue collaborating with partners across the public, private, and non-profit sectors to develop more inclusive programs that promote connection and positively impact the lives of those they serve.
