The annual Light To Night Festival returns for its 10th edition, offering art enthusiasts an extended opportunity to explore captivating installations and performances. Running from January 9 to 31, 2026, at the Civic District, this year’s festival theme, “The Power In Us,” marks the longest duration in its history, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a blend of visual art and interactive experiences.

Captivating Projection Mappings

No iteration of the Light To Night Festival would be complete without its signature projection mappings. This year, attendees can anticipate five stunning displays across three venues. At the National Gallery Singapore, viewers can experience “Ansiblomoo” by Singaporean artist Fyerool Darma and “Memory Gesture” by Vietnamese artist Ngoc Nau. The former presents a four-minute visual journey showcasing synthetic threads transforming into intricate fiber-optic ecosystems. Meanwhile, “Memory Gesture” highlights the rich agricultural landscape of Vietnam.

At The Arts House located at the Old Parliament, festival-goers can admire “Larut’s Tears,” a collaboration between the Gerimis Art Project and Youngsook Choi. Additionally, “Start Here: From Every Vantage Point” sheds light on the perspectives of youth not currently engaged in education, employment, or training. Lastly, the Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall will showcase “Flower Power,” a collaboration between visual artist Noah Tan and pianist Dr. Azariah Tan.

The schedule for these projection mappings is as follows:
– **Ansiblomoo and Memory Gesture**: January 9 to 31, 20:00 to 00:00, National Gallery Singapore
– **Larut’s Tears and Start Here**: January 9 to 31, 19:30 to 00:00, The Arts House
– **Flower Power**: January 9 to 31, 19:30 to 00:00, Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall

Innovative Installations at Santai Series

A unique addition to the festival this year is the Santai Series, featuring specially commissioned installations across several locations, including Padang, Empress Lawn, and Esplanade Park. Among these is “Untitled Gathering” by Michael Lin, which incorporates hand-painted wooden furniture adorned with batik-inspired designs. This interactive installation encourages visitors to engage with the pieces, allowing them to rearrange and become co-creators of the art.

“Untitled Gathering” will be accessible from January 9 to 31, with viewing hours Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 19:00, and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 23:00 at the National Gallery Singapore, City Hall Wing, Level 3, Singapore Courtyard.

The festival also features “Singaporama,” a culmination of Thai artist Navin Rawanchaikul‘s yearlong research on Singapore’s diverse communities. This exhibit includes a panoramic display of large billboard paintings that mimic the style of classic cinema posters, complemented by video interviews and a travelogue. “Singaporama” will be available from January 9 to November 2026, with similar viewing hours at the National Gallery Singapore.

Art X Social: Festival Village and Live Performances

Visitors can head to St Andrew’s Road and the Empress Lawn for the Art X Social: Festival Village, which features live performances, food stalls, and craft experiences. Attendees can indulge in various culinary treats from vendors such as The Swag Social and Slurp Your Oysters. Notably, the Empress Lawn will host a pet fair on January 23 and 24, offering activities and vendors geared towards animal lovers.

The Art X Social: Festival Village will be open on January 9 to 10, January 16 to 17, and January 23 to 24, with operating hours from 18:00 to 23:30 on St Andrew’s Road and from 17:00 to 23:30 on Empress Lawn.

For fans of K-pop, the festival presents “Namjooning 2 – We Are Bulletproof: Armylogue,” an interactive trail that pairs artworks from the UOB Southeast Asia Gallery and DBS Singapore Gallery with solo tracks from members of the globally acclaimed group BTS. This engaging experience is free, but registration is required through the festival’s official website. The Namjooning trail will take place on January 17, 24, and 31 from 14:00 to 15:30 and 17:00 to 18:30 at the National Gallery Singapore, City Hall Wing, Level 2, Singapore Courtyard.

As the Light To Night Festival approaches, anticipation builds for a month filled with artistic expression, interactive installations, and community engagement, making it a must-visit event for locals and tourists alike.
