Ikea and Gustaf Westman Unveil Exciting New Collection in New Bahru
A new collaboration between Ikea and Swedish designer Gustaf Westman has launched at a pop-up exhibition in New Bahru, offering a first look at the limited edition collection. This unique showcase runs until September 21, 2023, and features a variety of tableware and home accessories that highlight Westman’s distinctive design style. The collection will officially be available at Ikea’s Alexandra store beginning on October 23, 2023, with customers limited to one piece per design each day while supplies last.
The pop-up event is located at The Factory at New Bahru and welcomes visitors from 12:00 to 20:00 local time. Attendees can explore the entire collection, which is part of Ikea’s annual Vinterfint winter lineup. Westman’s designs incorporate curvy shapes and vibrant colors, aiming to bring a modern twist to seasonal themes.
Among the standout items is a rectangular serving plate, already dubbed the “meatball plate” by enthusiasts. This versatile piece can serve not only meatballs but also other small bites or act as an eye-catching display for decorative items. The collection also includes the striking Strala 2025 LED candelabra, available in a bold fire engine red. This piece is designed to enhance any dining setup or brighten up quieter spaces.
Another highlight is the innovative Vinterfint vase, which transforms traditional vase aesthetics. It features a spiral support that allows users to style flowers in a unique manner, making it an ideal centerpiece for any home.
Visitors to the pop-up have the opportunity to win an exclusive autographed piece from the limited edition collection, adding an extra incentive to attend. The collaboration marks Westman’s first product design project with a major company, establishing him as a rising star in the design industry.
The pop-up at The Factory is not only a showcase of creativity but also an invitation for customers to engage with the latest trends in home decor. With the official launch just around the corner, the anticipation for this vibrant collection continues to grow.
