Hong Kong Airlines Celebrates Dance Drama with Themed Flight Experience
Hong Kong Airlines is set to enhance the cultural experience of air travel by launching a special themed flight in collaboration with the China Oriental Performing Arts Group and Elite Fun Entertainment Limited. This initiative coincides with the return of the acclaimed dance drama, Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting, which will be performed at the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre from December 31, 2025 to January 3, 2026.
As part of this unique offering, flight HX239 departed from Shanghai Hongqiao to Hong Kong on December 29, 2025. The airline transformed the cabin of an A330 aircraft into a mobile interpretation of the renowned Northern Song Dynasty painting, A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains. This design integrates vibrant landscapes of lush greenery, creating a captivating atmosphere for passengers.
The themed flight features three lead dancers from the production as special guests. They engaged with passengers, sharing their experiences and distributing exclusive commemorative gifts. In addition, the cabin crew donned scarves and badges inspired by the elegance of the Song Dynasty, enhancing the immersive experience.
The inflight ambiance was further enriched by carefully curated music and announcements, crafting a serene and graceful environment that echoed the aesthetics of the Song era. Hong Kong Airlines aims to cultivate cultural appreciation and connection through this initiative, aligning with its mission of “Connecting Culture Through Flight.”
Jeff Sun, President of Hong Kong Airlines, expressed pride in the collaboration. “We are truly honoured to bring the renowned dance drama aboard our flight. Our goal is to allow more travellers to experience the charm of traditional Chinese art and contemporary creativity during their journeys,” he stated. He emphasized the airline’s commitment to promoting Chinese culture on a global stage and the importance of future collaborations that showcase the strength and elegance of this rich heritage.
The partnership with the China Oriental Performing Arts Group and Elite Fun Entertainment Limited exemplifies a deep integration of art and aviation, aiming to reinterpret traditional beauty through modern creativity. This initiative not only highlights the cultural significance of the performance but also transforms each flight into an extension of the stage, delivering a poetic experience to passengers high above the clouds.
Hong Kong Airlines continues to innovate in the realm of cultural tourism, promising an exciting and enriching travel experience for all.
