CreAsia Studio and TrueVisions NOW Launch Thai Adaptation of ‘My Chef in Crime’

CreAsia Studio, launched by Deepak Dhar and Banijay Entertainment, in partnership with TrueVisions NOW, has revealed plans for a Thai adaptation of the innovative crime drama series, My Chef in Crime. This unique series, which combines forensic science, culinary arts, and mystery, is set to premiere exclusively on TrueVisions NOW in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The eight-part series is being developed and produced by CreAsia Studio along with My Shot. It will be directed by Thai producer-writer Pornmanus Rattanavich, with contributions from scriptwriters Nitikarn Pinmuangngarm, Rapeepimol Chaiyasena, and Punnapat Sutthiwong. The plot follows a forensic scientist who transitions into the culinary world, only to find himself the prime suspect in the mysterious death of a rival chef. To clear his name, he collaborates with a determined police officer, leading them both through a series of compelling culinary investigations.
Strengthening Local Narratives in Southeast Asia
In a statement, Deepak Dhar expressed enthusiasm for CreAsia Studio’s role in advancing creative content throughout Southeast Asia. He stated, “CreAsia Studio continues to drive the next wave of creative expansion across Southeast Asia. With non-scripted originals like Race to Space and scripted formats like My Chef in Crime now set in Thailand, we are not only building local stories but also shaping a shared regional identity for premium Asian content.” He emphasized that every format aims to encourage collaboration and cultural exchange.
TrueVisions Group’s Head of True Visions & Media Division, Ongard Prapakamol, highlighted the importance of local storytelling. “My Chef in Crime is an extraordinary concept that brings together two of Thailand’s biggest passions — food and drama — through an inventive crime narrative. We are proud to collaborate with CreAsia Studio on this exciting journey,” he stated.
According to Jessica Kam, Executive Vice President and Business Head of CreAsia Studio, this series marks the first scripted format created in Southeast Asia by the studio. “Thailand is brimming with exceptional storytellers and untapped creative brilliance. At CreAsia Studio, we remain committed to creating original formats infused with Asian cultural DNA, designed not only to resonate locally but also to captivate audiences globally,” she remarked.
Support and Production Timeline
The production of My Chef in Crime is backed by the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture of Thailand, along with the Thai Association of Cultural and Creative Industries (THACCA). Filming is set to commence in February 2026, with the series expected to debut on TrueVisions NOW later that year.
This new adaptation seeks to enrich the landscape of Thai television by integrating local flavors with global storytelling techniques, further establishing Thailand’s position in the international entertainment arena.
