CreAsia Studio and TrueVisions NOW Launch Thai Adaptation of ‘My Chef in Crime’

CreAsia Studio, established by Deepak Dhar in partnership with Banijay Entertainment, has announced the Thai adaptation of the innovative crime drama series My Chef in Crime. This new version, produced in collaboration with TrueVisions NOW, blends elements of forensic science, culinary arts, and mystery. The series will be available exclusively on TrueVisions NOW in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The eight-part series is directed by renowned Thai producer and writer Pornmanus Rattanavich, along with scriptwriters Nitikarn Pinmuangngarm, Rapeepimol Chaiyasena, and Punnapat Sutthiwong. The storyline revolves around a forensic scientist who transitions into a chef and becomes embroiled in the mysterious death of a rival chef. As the prime suspect, he must leverage his expertise in food chemistry and forensic science to clear his name, collaborating with a determined police officer whose past is linked to his own.
Strategic Expansion in Southeast Asia
Deepak Dhar, Founder and Group CEO of Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India, emphasized the importance of this venture in driving creative expansion across Southeast Asia. He stated, “CreAsia Studio continues to drive the next wave of creative expansion across Southeast Asia. With non-scripted originals like Race to Space and scripted formats like My Chef in Crime now set in Thailand, we’re not only building local stories but also shaping a shared regional identity for premium Asian content.” This initiative aims to spark collaboration across borders, positioning Asia as a significant player in the global content landscape.
TrueVisions Group’s Head of True Visions & Media Division, Ongard Prapakamol, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that My Chef in Crime unites two of Thailand’s greatest passions—food and drama—within an inventive crime narrative. “We’re proud to collaborate with CreAsia Studio on this exciting journey,” he remarked.
Commitment to Original Storytelling
Jessica Kam, Executive Vice President and Business Head of CreAsia Studio, highlighted the significance of this adaptation as the first scripted format produced by CreAsia, deeply rooted in Southeast Asia. “Thailand is brimming with exceptional storytellers and untapped creative brilliance. At CreAsia Studio, we remain committed to creating original formats infused with Asian cultural DNA, designed not only to resonate locally but also to captivate audiences globally,” she stated.
The production of My Chef in Crime is supported by the Department of Cultural Promotion under the Ministry of Culture of Thailand and the Thai Association of Creative Communications Agencies (THACCA). Filming is set to commence in February 2026, with the series anticipated to premiere on TrueVisions NOW in late 2026.
This initiative represents a significant step in the evolution of Thai entertainment, showcasing local talent while appealing to a wider audience. As the series develops, it promises to deliver a unique blend of culinary and forensic intrigue that is sure to captivate viewers both in Thailand and beyond.
