Charlie And The Chocolate Factory Musical Sets Singapore Debut for May 2026

The acclaimed musical Charlie And The Chocolate Factory will make its Southeast Asia debut in Singapore at the Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, in May 2026. This immersive production, based on Roald Dahl’s beloved book, invites audiences to join young Charlie Bucket on his extraordinary adventure inside Willy Wonka’s whimsical chocolate factory.
The story follows Charlie as he discovers a golden ticket that grants him access to a world filled with magical delights, including the enchanting Oompa-Loompas. The musical features iconic songs like “Pure Imagination,” “The Candy Man,” and “I’ve Got A Golden Ticket,” which are familiar from the classic 1971 film starring Gene Wilder. This production will also highlight original compositions by Grammy and Tony Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, known for their work on Hairspray and Mary Poppins Returns.
Innovative Design and Theatrical Magic
Adding to the excitement, renowned Las Vegas magic and illusion designer Tim Clothier has joined the Broadway team to create a visually stunning experience. Clothier expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Willy Wonka is the king of imagination, and being able to design new stage wizardry for that character is a dream come true.” The show promises advanced magical effects that will transform the stage into a landscape where the impossible becomes possible.
The musical has already captivated audiences worldwide, having premiered on Broadway in 2017 and completed over 300 performances. Following its successful run, it embarked on a four-year North American tour that concluded in 2022. Additionally, the production enjoyed a successful stint on London’s West End, where it received two Olivier Awards for its outstanding contribution to theatre.
Chantal Prudhomme, chief executive officer of Base Entertainment Asia, emphasized the production’s broad appeal: “This production speaks to audiences of all ages, from children discovering the magic for the first time to lifelong fans of Roald Dahl’s timeless story and films. With unforgettable music, larger-than-life characters, and magical stagecraft, it delivers a theatrical experience full of wonder.”

Ticket sales for the public will begin on September 20, 2025, with pre-sale opportunities available for UOB cardmembers and others starting on September 18.
