Chahatt Khanna Embraces Iconic Role of Chandramukhi in New Film
Actress Chahatt Khanna is preparing to take on the iconic role of Chandramukhi in her upcoming OTT film, a reimagining of the classic story of Devdas. This new adaptation presents a unique perspective by focusing on the character of Chanda, previously immortalized by the legendary Madhuri Dixit. In a recent statement, Khanna expressed her excitement about the project, stating, “It was an honour to play Chandramukhi. Of course, Madhuri ji is a legend, and I can’t even compare myself to her. But the director felt I had a little resemblance to her, and that’s how I was chosen for this part.”
Filming took place in Shahpur last year under challenging conditions, with temperatures soaring to a sweltering 60° Celsius. Khanna reflected on the experience, saying, “We shot this at Shahpur last year in 60°. All we did was night shifts, and by 7 AM we used to pack up because it used to be so hot.” Her portrayal of Chandramukhi aims to provide an intimate look at the character’s journey, resilience, and the untold emotions she experiences.
Chahatt’s adaptation of Chandramukhi features a talented cast, including Vishal Kotian and Krissann Barretto Karamchandani. The actress hopes to bring a fresh perspective to the character, emphasizing her strength and depth. This project marks another addition to Khanna’s impressive portfolio, which includes notable works such as “Bade Achhe Lagte Hain,” “Yaatris,” “Prassthanam,” and “Qubool Hai.”
Beyond her professional achievements, Khanna’s personal life has faced significant challenges. She experienced two failed marriages, with her first union occurring when she was just 19 years old. Falling in love at the age of 16, her first marriage ended bitterly just four months later. Her second marriage was to Farhan Mirza, son of veteran actor Shahrukh Mirza, and lasted five years, during which they welcomed two daughters. However, that relationship also ended tumultuously, with Khanna accusing Mirza of sexual and mental harassment.
As she embarks on this new role, Chahatt Khanna looks forward to showcasing Chandramukhi’s strength and complexity to audiences worldwide. The film promises to deliver a powerful narrative that resonates with viewers, bridging the gap between classic tales and contemporary interpretations.
