Adult content creator Tia Billinger, widely known as Bonnie Blue, is set to be deported from Indonesia following her involvement in a police investigation that highlighted the country’s stringent laws against pornography. Billinger, 26, was cleared of violating anti-pornography laws but found guilty of a minor traffic offense and subsequently faced deportation for working on a tourist visa.

The incident began when police raided a production studio in Bali, detaining a total of 34 individuals. Bali, a popular destination for millions of tourists, is part of predominantly Muslim Indonesia, which enforces strict regulations prohibiting the production of pornographic material. Violators can face severe penalties, including up to 12 years in prison and fines reaching approximately $360,000 (£270,000).

Despite the serious implications, Billinger’s legal troubles stem largely from an immigration violation. She was fined Rp 200,000 (around $12 or £9) and is scheduled to leave Indonesia on a flight shortly after midnight local time.

Details of the Police Investigation

According to Badung Police, 16 foreign nationals and 14 Indonesian witnesses reported being present at the production studio in the Pererenan area of Mengwi for what they described as an “entertainment-themed reality show.” They insisted that “no indecent material was produced.” Billinger was identified alongside three others as having played “dominant roles” in the project.

The police investigation also scrutinized a pickup truck branded with “Bonnie Blue” and “Bang Bus.” Officers noted that the four individuals were aware of Indonesia’s strict prohibition against producing pornographic content. The police chief, M Arif Batubara, stated that they are ensuring “all processes are carried out based on legal facts” and are collaborating with prosecutors and immigration authorities to determine subsequent legal actions.

Investigators also reviewed videos recorded at a hotel in the Berawa area, but they did not find any evidence of pornography or unlawful distribution. Nevertheless, the four foreign nationals are suspected of “misusing their stay permits” to engage in commercial activities.

Background on Bonnie Blue’s Activities

Bonnie Blue, originally from Nottingham, is known for her controversial content, which has included filming at Australian universities in search of “barely legal” participants. During a time known as “schoolies week,” when high school graduates typically celebrate their completion of exams, she was reportedly driving around Bali.

Last year, Billinger had plans to produce adult content featuring young adults; however, her Australian tourist visa was revoked prior to those activities materializing.

Officials from Indonesia’s immigration department are expected to announce whether they will blacklist Billinger, preventing her from re-entering the country. This situation highlights the complexities and challenges faced by foreign nationals navigating Indonesia’s strict laws regarding adult content and tourism.
