Beijing International Audiovisual Conference Sets Vision for Future
The 2025 Beijing International Audiovisual Conference commenced on November 27 and concluded on November 28, gathering representatives from over twenty countries. Organized by the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau alongside the Administrative Committee of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, the conference focused on the theme, “GATHER MOMENTUM FOR SYMBIOSIS, PIONEER THE FUTURE OF VISION.” Participants engaged in discussions surrounding the development of high-quality audiovisual industries and international cooperation.
The event featured an opening ceremony and main forum, alongside ten themed forums and various supporting activities. During the opening ceremony, key announcements were made, including the launch of the Action Plan for Promoting High-Quality Development of the “AI + Audiovisual” Industry in Beijing (2025–2029). This initiative aims to enhance the integration of artificial intelligence within the audiovisual sector through advancements in technology research and development, application scenarios, and ecosystem cultivation.
A significant highlight was the announcement of the 2025 Funding Projects of the Beijing Radio and Television Online Audiovisual Development Fund. This program will support a total of 161 outstanding projects across seven categories, including TV dramas, documentaries, and animated works. The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area emphasized its commitment to becoming a hub for innovation in the high-tech audiovisual industry, showcasing its success in building a comprehensive industry-chain ecosystem.
Financial support for industry growth was also a focal point, with the Bank of Beijing introducing the Bank of Beijing Financial Service Plan for New Quality Audiovisual Productivity. This plan aims to provide comprehensive financial solutions to bolster the industry’s development. Additionally, the launch of the Beijing Big Audiovisual “Jing Langya” Master Studio underscored Beijing’s dedication to nurturing a diverse pool of audiovisual talent.
During the guest speech session, industry leaders shared insights on current trends and innovations. Xiong Chengyu discussed production and dissemination techniques for online audiovisual products in the AI era, while Luc Bénaz explored opportunities for collaboration between the audiovisual industries of China and Africa. Furthermore, Fang Han examined the impact of AI technologies on the content ecosystem, and Li Jiang outlined the growing trend towards premiumization and global expansion in the micro-drama market. Yilikhamjiang Ibragimov presented successful results from China–Kazakhstan dubbing and co-productions, including the project “Waiting for You in Ili.”
The conference also introduced a series of engaging supporting events. These included “AI Animation Creators: How Universities Are Shaping the Future of Chinese Animation,” “Hearing the Future: Ultra-HD Podcast Theme Day Activity,” “AI Audiovisual Creation Carnival,” and “‘Audiovisual +’ Immersive Experience Day.” Such initiatives reflect a commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in the audiovisual landscape.
Overall, the 2025 Beijing International Audiovisual Conference not only highlighted advancements within the industry but also fostered international dialogue aimed at shaping the future of audiovisual content.
