Amarkala Deepavali 2025 Celebrates Festival of Lights with Joyful Performances

The annual countdown to Deepavali took center stage at The Theatre at Mediacorp on October 19, 2025, with the vibrant event, Amarkala Deepavali 2025. The show illuminated the night with over two hours of live performances, bringing together music, dance, and community spirit to mark the arrival of the Festival of Lights at midnight. This year’s edition, themed Namma Deepavali (Our Deepavali), showcased a family-centric storyline that resonated with audiences.
Prominent local performers including Alawdwin Ali, Karthikeyan Somasundaram, Maahes Chandiras, Puravalan Narayanasamy, Shamini G, and Udaya Soundari captivated the audience with their dynamic acts. The evening featured a rich array of entertainment, from dance sequences to comedic skits and musical medleys, culminating in a standout performance by South Indian singer and voice actress Chinmayi. The showcased performances emphasized values such as love, forgiveness, and generosity, reflecting the true essence of Deepavali.
Community Engagement and Celebrations
The event attracted notable guests, including the Guest-of-Honour, Edwin Tong, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs. His presence underscored the significance of community and cultural celebrations during this festive period. The show also featured live crossovers to Little India, hosted by Nisha Kumar and Thavanesan Sivananthan, allowing viewers to experience the vibrant street celebrations as crowds gathered to usher in Deepavali.
Amarkala Deepavali 2025 is part of Mediacorp’s broader #NammaDeepavali campaign, which includes various community and cultural initiatives. Collaborations with organizations like the Little India Shopkeepers & Heritage Association (LISHA), the Hindu Endowments Board (HEB), and the Indian Heritage Centre further enriched the festivities. Events such as the Deepavali Light-Up Ceremony and the Utsavam Street Parade have brought the community together to celebrate this important occasion.
The event was broadcast live on Vasantham and mewatch, allowing audiences at home to partake in the joyous occasion. Following the show, festive programs and specials continue on Vasantham through Tuesday, complemented by engaging digital content available on Ungalukkaga Mediacorp’s social media platforms, including Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.
