TÜV SÜD and Hong Kong Krauts Unite for Coastal Clean-Up
On November 27, 2025, TÜV SÜD Hong Kong collaborated with the local football club Hong Kong Krauts and the environmental organization Green Hope to conduct a coastal and trail clean-up at Tiger Rock Beach in Sai Kung. This initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and highlights the importance of environmental stewardship.
Effective Action Against Marine Pollution
The event began with participants hiking towards Tiger Rock Beach, collecting litter along the trail. Upon reaching the beach, they focused their efforts on cleaning the shoreline. Within just 1.5 hours, the team successfully removed 35 bags of waste, weighing approximately 108 kilograms. The collected items primarily included plastic bottles, polystyrene boxes, and discarded fishing lines and nets.
This litter not only detracts from the natural beauty of the area but also poses significant threats to marine life. Plastics can linger in the environment for decades, gradually breaking down into microplastics that enter the food chain, ultimately affecting human health. Abandoned fishing gear, often referred to as “ghost nets,” continues to trap and harm marine animals long after being discarded.
By participating in this clean-up, TÜV SÜD employees and partners gained a deeper understanding of the urgency surrounding marine pollution and reinforced their commitment to environmental protection.
Commitment to Sustainable Solutions
This clean-up activity is part of TÜV SÜD’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility. As a global organization providing comprehensive solutions in safety, security, and sustainability, TÜV SÜD integrates environmental awareness into its core services. The company offers end-to-end support to clients in achieving carbon neutrality and sustainable development.
Mr. Andrew Lee, Chief Financial Officer of TÜV SÜD North Asia, emphasized the company’s dedication to environmental protection. He stated, “We are committed not only to protecting the environment through action, but also to extending the principles of sustainable development across industries through our professional services. Moving forward, we will continue to support and organize initiatives of this kind.” He highlighted the company’s technical strengths in low-carbon solutions and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, aiming to contribute to a more sustainable future.
Founded in 1866 as a steam boiler inspection association, the TÜV SÜD Group has transformed into a global enterprise. With almost 30,000 employees across over 1,000 locations, the organization continually enhances technology, systems, and expertise. Their efforts significantly contribute to the safety and reliability of technical innovations such as Industry 4.0, autonomous driving, and renewable energy.
