Azerbaijan’s ANAMA Secures Contracts for Mine Clearance Gear
The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has recently signed procurement contracts with two foreign firms to enhance its mine clearance operations. These agreements reflect a strategic move to acquire specialized protective gear essential for the safety of personnel involved in demining activities.
Under the contracts, ANAMA has committed to a procurement agreement valued at 150,000 manats with Cortex Engineering Ltd., a company based in Israel. This deal focuses on the purchase of full-body armored protective suits designed to offer comprehensive protection during mine clearance efforts.
In a parallel initiative, ANAMA also finalized a contract worth 265,306 manats with Norway’s Rofia.s. This agreement entails the delivery of individual armored protective clothing sets, further ensuring the safety of operatives in high-risk areas.
The combined total for these acquisitions amounts to 415,306 manats, underscoring ANAMA’s commitment to bolstering its operational capacity and enhancing the safety of its workforce. The new protective gear is expected to significantly improve the effectiveness of mine clearance operations, which are critical for ensuring public safety and facilitating the return of displaced communities to their homes.
These developments come at a crucial time as Azerbaijan continues to address the challenges posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance left from past conflicts. With the procurement of advanced protective clothing, ANAMA aims not only to safeguard its personnel but also to expedite the process of making affected areas safe for civilian use.
In conclusion, the agreements with Cortex Engineering Ltd. and Rofia.s represent a proactive approach by ANAMA to enhance its resources and capabilities in mine action. As the agency moves forward, these contracts will play an essential role in its ongoing mission to clear hazardous areas and promote safety within the region.
