The 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP30, took place in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21, 2025. The event drew over 50,000 delegates from more than 190 countries, focusing on advancing the annual climate finance goal of $1.3 trillion. Among the participants was SUS ENVIRONMENT, a prominent player in China’s environmental and energy sectors, which showcased its contributions to climate governance through innovative waste-to-energy solutions.

Highlighting Waste-to-Energy Initiatives

SUS ENVIRONMENT participated in the China Pavilion at COP30, emphasizing the importance of “energy transition,” “ecological governance,” and “biodiversity conservation.” The company delivered a keynote speech titled “SUS Solid Waste Management Solution: Technological Innovation Driving Climate Action and Sustainable Development.” In this address, it outlined China’s advancements in waste-to-energy technologies and carbon reduction practices.

As waste management accounts for a significant portion of global carbon emissions, with the sector being the fourth largest contributor, SUS ENVIRONMENT underscored the urgent need for strategic interventions. The company highlighted how its technological innovations and industrial collaborations aim to achieve a balance between environmental governance and sustainable development. By leveraging artificial intelligence, SUS ENVIRONMENT aims to produce clean energy with either carbon neutrality or even “negative carbon” emissions.

Commitment to Biodiversity and Ecological Protection

In addition to its focus on waste-to-energy solutions, SUS ENVIRONMENT addressed the critical issue of biodiversity conservation. The presentation, “Towards a Sustainable Future – Waste-to-Energy and Biodiversity Conservation Practices,” detailed the company’s commitment to ecological protection. This commitment is evident in the construction and operation of waste-to-energy plants, the remediation of contaminated industrial and mining sites, and comprehensive landfill remediation efforts.

SUS ENVIRONMENT’s approach reflects an understanding of the interconnectedness of waste management and biodiversity. The company aims to not only mitigate waste-related emissions but also contribute to the preservation of ecosystems. By promoting global cooperation and maintaining an open attitude, SUS ENVIRONMENT strives to enhance global climate governance through waste-to-energy initiatives.

As of June 2025, SUS ENVIRONMENT operates 11 management centers worldwide and has constructed 90 waste-to-energy projects. These facilities have a combined daily processing capacity of nearly 120,000 tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) and generate approximately 18,000 GWh of green power annually. This scale of operation positions SUS ENVIRONMENT as a leading comprehensive environmental provider on a global scale.

Through its participation in COP30, SUS ENVIRONMENT has reinforced its role in advancing sustainable practices and contributing to climate action. By focusing on innovative solutions in waste management, the company aims to foster a cleaner, more sustainable future for the planet.
