Jaipur Administration Responds to Voter List Deletion Claims
The administration in Jaipur has issued a clarification in response to viral claims regarding the deletion of names from the voter list. Following a video that surfaced on social media, residents from Jhotwara accused a Booth Level Officer (BLO) of failing to distribute enumeration forms and arbitrarily removing names from the voter list.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the District Collector and Magistrate of Jaipur confirmed that the enumeration process would continue until December 4, 2025. The Collector noted that some residents were not available during two visits made by the BLO, and an additional visit is planned. If these voters are present during the next visit, they will receive enumeration forms to complete.
According to the Collector, the draft voter list is scheduled for release on December 9, 2025. Voters who do not appear on this list will have the opportunity to contest their removal or addition during a designated period from December 9, 2025, to January 8, 2026. The Collector also emphasized that voters can fill out and submit enumeration forms online, ensuring accessibility for all.
The controversy escalated when the viral video featured a young man confronting the BLO. He claimed that she threatened to remove names if residents did not submit their forms directly to her. The man questioned her actions, stating, “Why did you cut my name? You didn’t even visit our house. We came to you, yet you marked us absent.”
On November 18, the Congress Party shared this video, alleging manipulation of the voter registration process. The party asserted that the BLO failed to visit the homes of affected voters and removed names unlawfully, depicting this as a violation of constitutional rights. The Congress described the removals as an unacceptable attack on democratic processes and vowed to oppose such actions.
As this situation develops, the Jaipur administration continues to encourage transparency and participation in the electoral process, assuring residents that their rights will be upheld.
