Hotel The Celestine Kyoto Gion Earns Second Michelin One-Key Award
Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management Co., Ltd. has announced that Hotel The Celestine Kyoto Gion has been awarded the Michelin One-Key rating for the second consecutive year. This distinction, recognized in the Michelin Guide released on October 8, 2025, honors hotels that provide exceptional and memorable experiences in design, comfort, and service.
This year, the Michelin Key program recognized 128 properties across Japan, showcasing the best in hospitality. Located in Kyoto’s esteemed Higashiyama district, Hotel The Celestine Kyoto Gion combines traditional Kyoto aesthetics with modern sophistication, making it a serene sanctuary for visitors.
Guests can enjoy a curated Kyoto-style breakfast from the historic restaurant Yasaka Endo, relax in public baths with views of a tranquil garden, and experience Japanese artistry in the guest lounge, which features origami and traditional stationery. The hotel has also launched a “treat-yourself” retreat this autumn, encouraging visitors to embrace self-care during the season of vibrant fall foliage.
Exploring Kyoto’s Autumn Beauty
The Celestine Hotels brand includes three unique locations in Japan—Kyoto, Ginza, and Shiba in Tokyo. Each hotel reflects the essence of an elegant retreat, inspired by local culture. Guests are invited to explore Kyoto’s stunning autumn colors, which typically peak from late November to early December.
Key attractions near the hotel include the Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka Shrine, known for their breathtaking views framed by crimson maple leaves. Just a 12-minute walk from the hotel, Kiyomizu-dera glows beautifully during the autumn illumination period, offering a magical evening experience.
Another notable site is Kennin-ji Temple, the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto. Located only seven minutes away, it features a serene rock garden that highlights the contrast of autumn leaves against white gravel and green moss, providing a peaceful retreat for contemplation.
Recognition for Other Properties
In addition to Hotel The Celestine Kyoto Gion, four other properties within the Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management portfolio were featured in this year’s Michelin Guide. These include:
– **Hotel The Celestine Ginza**: An urban sanctuary in Ginza with tranquil guestrooms and exceptional dining at its signature restaurant, Ginza Casita. Located at 8-4-22 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
– **Hotel The Celestine Tokyo Shiba**: The only high-rise property in Ginza, offering city views from guest rooms above the 16th floor. Address: 13-1 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
