Celebrating 70 Years of Impact: SRDC Launches New Initiatives

The Society for the Relief of Disabled Children (SRDC) in Hong Kong is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, marking nearly seven decades of dedicated service to children with disabilities. Founded in 1955, SRDC has become a leading non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on providing essential care, advocacy, and resources to improve the lives of children with special needs. The organization has launched a campaign aiming to raise **HK$5 million** for its “Bring The Children Home” initiative and other impactful programs.

On **October 22, 2025**, the celebrations commenced with the opening of the “SRDC – Pioneers for 70 Years – Impact Story Exhibition” at Pacific Place, Admiralty. The event was officiated by **Dr. Cecilia Fan Yuen-man**, the Under Secretary for Health, alongside notable guests such as **Mr. FAN Hung Ling, Henry**, SBS, JP, Chairman of the Hospital Authority. This exhibition showcases the remarkable journeys of children who have benefited from SRDC’s programs, highlighting their success stories and achievements.

In addition to the exhibition, SRDC has planned several fundraising events throughout the year. A key upcoming event is the **Sandy Bay Hospital Charity Bazaar** on **November 15, 2025**, which aims to gather donations to upgrade medical equipment for the Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital. This is crucial for maintaining high standards of care for children requiring specialized medical attention.

“Our 70th anniversary is a celebration of the extraordinary journey we have undertaken together with our community,” said **TT Cheung**, BBS, JP, Chairman of SRDC. He emphasized the importance of the collective contributions from supporters and partners who have tirelessly worked to ensure that children with special needs receive the necessary support.

The “Bring The Children Home” initiative is particularly noteworthy. It aims to assist underprivileged families in Hong Kong by providing support for homecare services, enabling children who are ready to leave the Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital to transition smoothly back into family life. This program will help families build strong support networks, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for these children.

“This new programme and other SRDC impact initiatives will benefit from your generous donations,” TT Cheung added. “We at SRDC look forward to welcoming more donors to join hands with us in giving these children a brighter and more promising future.”
