Borussia Dortmund triumphed over Copenhagen with a convincing 4-2 victory in their Champions League match at the Parken Stadium on October 3, 2023. Midfielder Felix Nmecha was instrumental, scoring two goals in a performance that showcased Dortmund’s offensive prowess. Despite an own goal that briefly leveled the match, Dortmund’s quality shone through as they maintained control throughout the game.

Nmecha opened the scoring in the 20th minute, executing a clever dummy on the edge of the box. He allowed the ball to glide across his body, deceiving Elias Achouri before unleashing a powerful strike past the Copenhagen goalkeeper. This goal seemed to signal the beginning of a dominant performance from Dortmund.

However, the Danish side responded unexpectedly when Ramy Bensebaini‘s attempted clearance deflected off Waldemar Anton, resulting in an own goal that brought the score to 1-1 just 13 minutes later. Despite this setback, Dortmund continued to control possession and dictated the pace of the match.

In the second half, Dortmund regained the lead in the 61st minute after a penalty was awarded when Copenhagen’s Luka Lerager was penalized for a foul on Serhou Guirassy during a corner kick. Bensebaini converted the penalty, restoring Dortmund’s advantage.

Nmecha then showcased his strength and skill by holding off Lerager before scoring his second goal of the night in the 76th minute. The midfielder’s performance highlighted his growing importance within the team. Shortly after, Fabio Silva marked his first goal for Dortmund, extending the lead to 4-1.

Copenhagen managed to salvage some pride with a late goal from 17-year-old substitute Viktor Dadason, who became the third-youngest scorer in Champions League history with a header in the 90th minute. Ultimately, the match ended with Dortmund securing a valuable three points.

Following this victory, Dortmund stands fourth in their group with seven points, while Copenhagen remains at the bottom with just one point from three matches. This defeat adds to the challenges faced by the Danish side in their quest for success in the tournament, as they continue to search for their first win.
