Mediacorp Celebrates Deepavali 2025 with Vibrant Show and Community Spirit
Mediacorp’s annual Deepavali countdown show, Amarkala Deepavali 2025, illuminated The Theatre at Mediacorp on October 19, 2025, with over two hours of live performances celebrating the Festival of Lights. The event marked the 19th edition of this cherished tradition, showcasing the theme Namma Deepavali (Our Deepavali) and presenting a family-oriented narrative through various artistic expressions.
The entertainment lineup featured a diverse array of performers, including Alawdwin Ali, Karthikeyan Somasundaram, Maahes Chandiras, Puravalan Narayanasamy, Shamini G, and Udaya Soundari. Attendees enjoyed captivating dance sequences, comedic skits, and musical medleys that highlighted themes of love, forgiveness, and generosity—the core values of Deepavali.
The event was honored by the presence of Edwin Tong, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs, who served as the Guest-of-Honour. His participation underscored the cultural significance of the celebration and its community impact.
Connecting Communities with Cultural Celebrations
The show featured live crossovers to Little India, hosted by Nisha Kumar and Thavanesan Sivananthan, allowing viewers at home to experience the vibrant street festivities. Crowds gathered in the heart of Little India to usher in Deepavali, creating a lively atmosphere that resonated with the spirit of the festival.
This year’s Amarkala Deepavali is part of Mediacorp’s broader #NammaDeepavali campaign, which includes various community and cultural initiatives. Collaborations with organizations such as the Little India Shopkeepers & Heritage Association and the Hindu Endowments Board have led to events like the Deepavali Light-Up Ceremony and the Utsavam Street Parade. These collaborations aim to strengthen community ties while celebrating the rich heritage of the Indian culture in the region.
The show was broadcast live on Vasantham and available on the streaming platform mewatch. Festive programming continues on Vasantham through October 21, 2025, alongside engaging digital content shared across Mediacorp’s social media platforms, including Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.
As the lights of Deepavali shine brightly, the event not only brings joy and celebration but also fosters a sense of unity and togetherness among diverse communities.
