The annual event “SME ReachOut: FUND Fair plus Tech Sourcing 2025” officially opened on October 16, 2025, at the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) Building. Jointly organized by the HKPC and the Trade and Industry Department (TID), this two-day Fair aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in navigating the latest trends in digitalization and market expansion.

Key Figures and Themes Highlighted

With over 6,000 attendees registered this year, the Fair underscores the growing interest among SMEs for government funding and technology upgrade services. This marks the fifth iteration of the Fair, which has been a vital resource platform for nearly 360,000 local SMEs.

Themed “FUND Tech Go,” the event showcases over 80 exhibitors from government funding bodies, technology vendors, and scheme implementation agencies. Attendees can explore five thematic zones: Grab Fund, Go Global, Go Green, Go AI & Digital, and eCommerce LIVE & RetailTech. Focus areas include artificial intelligence (AI), new retail technology, and intellectual property (IP) branding, all critical for businesses looking to expand and innovate.

Business representatives from the Chinese Mainland and various ASEAN countries will also share insights in the Market Expansion (Go Global) zone. This exchange aims to provide strategic guidance for companies seeking to venture into new markets.

Official Insights on Support for SMEs

In his opening remarks, Sunny TAN, Chairman of HKPC, emphasized the importance of supporting SMEs amidst rapid global economic changes. “This year’s Policy Address calls for further support for SMEs, assisting them in enhancing competitiveness and exploring new growth areas,” he stated. TAN highlighted HKPC’s commitment to aligning with government policies and facilitating collaboration between enterprises in Hong Kong and the Mainland.

Algernon YAU Ying-wah, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, reiterated the government’s role in aiding SMEs to upgrade operations and expand internationally. He expressed hope that the Fair would help SMEs understand available resources and promote the application of new technologies to enhance their market competitiveness.

YAU encouraged SMEs to utilize support measures outlined in the Policy Address, emphasizing the need for diversification to tackle current challenges effectively.

This year’s Fair also introduces an immersive digital experience for the first time, providing SMEs with hands-on opportunities to engage with technology applications and marketing strategies. Attendees can participate in interactive demonstrations featuring AI digital humans and cross-border e-commerce platforms.

Local enterprise Mastersound Limited showcases its AI voiceprint technology, which offers multilingual video and audio content creation for SMEs, helping them to penetrate foreign markets effectively.

The Fair also features a one-stop government funding consultation service. This allows enterprises to connect directly with the “SME ReachOut” team for information on key funding schemes such as the BUD Fund and the New Industrialization Funding Scheme. Since its 2020 launch, “SME ReachOut” has aided over 79,000 individuals and managed more than 40,000 cases.

HKPC encourages all SMEs to register for this free event, where they can access valuable resources, engage in one-on-one consultations, and learn from practical case studies. By participating, businesses can explore actionable solutions to bolster resilience and enhance their competitiveness in the evolving digital landscape.
