Singaporean singer Stefanie Sun has garnered widespread admiration after donating over S$1.8 million (10 million yuan) to a charitable fund aimed at supporting impoverished regions in China. The revelation of her contributions came during a concert on October 7, 2023, where fellow artist Han Hong disclosed Sun’s identity as the anonymous benefactor behind the donations.

The donations were made to the Beijing Han Hong Love Charity Foundation, which Han Hong established in 2012. The foundation focuses on various initiatives, including medical assistance, educational support, and disaster relief throughout China. Sun has consistently contributed to this fund each year, signifying her commitment to philanthropy.

In total, Sun’s contributions to the charity have reached 8 million yuan, with her latest donation of 2 million yuan aimed at assisting flood disaster victims in Guizhou province. Despite her significant contributions over the years, Sun initially preferred to remain anonymous. “Sun always told us not to write down her name on the donation maker list. I finally persuaded her to change her mind by telling her that in this day and age, we need positive energy,” Han stated during her concert.

In her social media post following the concert, Sun expressed her happiness in supporting Han Hong’s foundation, recognizing the importance of visibility in charitable acts. “I have managed to send love to the people in need thanks to the support from my fans,” she noted.

Both Han Hong, 54, and Stefanie Sun, 47, have been prominent figures in the Chinese music industry for over two decades. Han Hong is renowned for her impressive vocal range, a talent she attributes to her mother, a celebrated Tibetan singer. Meanwhile, Sun remains a leading performer in China, having launched her career in 2000 with her debut album shortly after graduating from university.

Earlier this year, Sun returned to the stage after a decade-long hiatus, holding two concerts in Shanghai where all 80,000 tickets sold out in just 17 minutes. Fans have taken to social media to praise both singers, highlighting their talent and generosity.

One fan remarked, “Yanzi sings well and has a kind heart. I have been supporting her for 20 years. I am proud of her.” Another online observer added, “These two sisters bring us positive energy. I hope their friendship lasts forever.”

The impact of their charitable work continues to resonate with fans, showcasing the enduring power of community support and the influence of public figures in promoting kindness and generosity.
