Chinese actress Tiffany Tang has been awarded the Best Actress in Television at the 2025 Golden Panda Awards, held from October 12 to 13 in Chengdu, Sichuan. Her performance in the TV drama Blossoms Shanghai, where she plays the character Miss Wang, garnered significant acclaim for its depth and resonance with contemporary themes.
The Golden Panda Awards, organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles in collaboration with the People’s Government of Sichuan Province, is a prestigious international event that celebrates excellence in film and television. The awards aim to foster cultural exchange and understanding, using the giant panda as a symbol of unity. The 2025 event featured various categories including film, television drama, documentaries, and animation, with a total of 27 awards presented.
In addition to Tang’s achievement, other notable winners included Brazilian actress Delis Weinberg, who received the Best Actress award in the film category for her role in O Último Azul, and Danish actress Trine Dyrholm, awarded Best Supporting Actress in Film for her portrayal in The Girl with the Needle. The Best Director award in the television drama category went to British director James Strong for Mr. Bates vs The Post Office.
Tiffany Tang’s portrayal of Miss Wang in Blossoms Shanghai is characterized by a strong sense of personal resilience and independence, encapsulated in the character’s motto, “I am my own dock.” This representation reflects the struggles and triumphs of contemporary women, resonating deeply with audiences. Her performance was noted for its emotional depth, bringing Miss Wang’s character to life with warmth and authenticity.
At the concurrent Golden Panda International Cultural Forum, Tang participated in discussions about the evolving landscape of film and television. Alongside industry leaders such as Li Xingwen, Vice-Chairman of the China Literary and Art Critics Association, and Feng Wei, President of Greater China for the Motion Picture Association of America, she shared her insights on emerging trends in content production.
Tang addressed the growing popularity of short series and boutique productions, emphasizing that these formats should not be viewed as competition to traditional long-form narratives. Instead, she sees them as a catalyst for enhancing the quality of storytelling across the board. Her perspective highlights the necessity for diverse voices and formats in the entertainment industry, fostering innovation and creativity.
As she reflects on her role as Miss Wang, Tang expressed her belief that the character’s journey mirrors the resilience of modern women, underscoring the timeless nature of her struggles. She stated, “Even when Miss Wang lives in a different era, audiences can still feel from her growth that a woman keeps her tenacity in both smooth sailing and adversity.”
When questioned about the potential for this role to define her career, Tang confidently asserted, “Miss Wang will grow, and I, Tiffany Tang, will grow too.” This response showcases her commitment to evolving as an actress while maintaining the integrity of her craft.
With the Golden Panda Award for Best Actress in Television now in her possession, Tiffany Tang exemplifies the spirit of an actor dedicated to high-quality storytelling. Her journey from the vibrant Miss Wang to her reflections on industry trends demonstrates her ability to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing environment. As she continues to push boundaries and explore new creative avenues, Tang’s future in the entertainment landscape appears increasingly promising.
