Crystal Palace Initiates Talks to Extend Oliver Glasner’s Contract
Crystal Palace has begun discussions with manager Oliver Glasner regarding a contract extension. Currently, Glasner’s agreement with the club is set to expire at the end of the current season. The news was confirmed by chairman Steve Parish, who expressed optimism about retaining the Austrian manager’s services.
Glasner has made a significant impact since joining Palace, leading the team to its first major trophy, the FA Cup, during the previous season. The club also celebrated another achievement in August when they won the Community Shield. These successes have heightened expectations for further accomplishments, prompting the club to seek an extension with the 51-year-old manager.
In an interview with TalkSport, Parish stated, “We’ve had some early conversations. We would love to keep Oliver. We’re building something.” He emphasized the importance of ensuring that Glasner finds the working conditions favorable to his ambitions. “It’s about everything being in a way that he enjoys his work and he finds the conditions favorable to achieve,” Parish added.
Glasner, known for his competitive spirit, is intent on winning titles, which Parish acknowledges. “Oliver wants to win things. He makes no secret of that. That’s what he’s in football for,” Parish remarked. The chairman expressed hope that the club can align their interests with Glasner’s aspirations, facilitating an extension that would benefit both parties.
As of now, Crystal Palace sits sixth in the Premier League, having secured 12 points from seven matches. The club’s next challenge will be against Bournemouth on Saturday, an opportunity for Glasner to further solidify his position as a successful manager.
With the season progressing and tensions rising in the league, the upcoming matches will be crucial for both Glasner and Palace. Should the talks for a contract extension proceed positively, it could mark a pivotal moment in the club’s ongoing development under his leadership.
