Sajiri Joshi and Kshitee Jog Lead New Marathi Series ‘Baai Tujhyapayi’
Actors Sajiri Joshi and Kshitee Jog will headline the new Marathi series titled ‘Baai Tujhyapayi’, which addresses issues of superstition and advocates for education. Joining them are Siddhesh Dhuri and Shivraj Waichal, along with Vibhavari Deshpande, Gautami Kachi, Anil Kamble, and Anil More in significant roles. The series is set to premiere on ZEE5.
Challenging Superstition Through Storytelling
Adapted from the Tamil series ‘Ayali’, written by Muthukumar, ‘Baai Tujhyapayi’ takes place in the early 1990s in Vesaicha Vadgaon. The narrative follows the journey of Ahilya, a determined young girl striving to defy traditional societal norms and her ambition to become a doctor. This series explores themes of education, equality, and empowerment, highlighting the struggles faced by women silenced by longstanding superstitions.
Director Nipun Dharmadhikari expressed his personal connection to the project, stating, “Baai Tujhyapayi is very close to my heart because it speaks of the courage it takes to stand up against centuries of blind faith. Through Ahilya’s story, we want to remind audiences that change often begins with one determined voice.”
A Universal Message of Empowerment
The writing team, comprising Nikhil Khaire and Mukta Bamthe, aims to deliver a narrative that resonates with contemporary viewers while remaining rooted in its cultural context. Producer Keyur Godse from Sixteen by Sixty-Four Productions emphasized the goal of presenting a story that feels both authentic and universal. He noted, “While the setting is rural Maharashtra in the 90s, the themes of equality, freedom, and education are still extremely relevant today.”
Hema V.R., Business Head of Marathi ZEE5, highlighted the platform’s commitment to content that inspires dialogue and drives change. She stated, “At ZEE5, our focus is on championing content that sparks conversations and creates impact, and ‘Baai Tujhyapayi’ reflects this vision. The first ‘why’ is never easy – but it is always the most powerful. This series captures that moment of courage when a young girl chooses to question rather than conform.”
With a strong cast and a compelling storyline, ‘Baai Tujhyapayi’ promises to be a thought-provoking series that not only entertains but also challenges social norms. The series is set to stream on ZEE5, offering viewers an opportunity to engage with its important themes.
