Rizki Juniansyah Sets World Record to Claim Weightlifting Gold

Rizki Juniansyah of Indonesia achieved a remarkable feat on March 4, 2024, by setting a world record in the clean and jerk category during the World Weightlifting Championships held in Forde, Norway. Competing in the 79 kg weight class, Juniansyah lifted an impressive 204 kg with his second clean and jerk, securing the gold medal ahead of competitors Ri Chong Song from North Korea and Abdelrahman Younes from Egypt.
The 22-year-old athlete, who is also the reigning Olympic champion in the 73 kg category, demonstrated his strength and skill with a successful snatch of 157 kg. This brought his total to 361 kg, just 1 kg shy of the world record for total weight in his category. Following his victory, Juniansyah expressed his determination to surpass this mark in future competitions, stating, “I’ll leave that for next time, hopefully.”
