Samsung Malaysia Announces 10 Semi-Finalists for Solve for Tomorrow 2025

Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd has revealed the top 10 semi-finalists for the *Solve for Tomorrow* competition, an initiative aimed at empowering students to tackle real-world challenges through innovative solutions. The announcement was made on October 6, 2025, following participation from over 210 students and mentors across Malaysia.
The *Solve for Tomorrow* campaign encourages young minds to apply their knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to address critical societal issues. This year’s participants showcased a range of ideas focused on sustainability, health, education, and sports, reflecting a commitment to purpose-driven innovation.
Elaine Soh, Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Malaysia, expressed pride in the creativity displayed by the participants. “Each year, we are inspired by the creativity and passion of our youth. *Solve for Tomorrow* is more than just a competition; it is a platform that empowers young minds to turn ideas into impactful solutions for real-world challenges,” she said. Soh emphasized that beyond STEM knowledge, participants are also developing essential life skills such as collaboration and critical thinking.
The Director of Universiti Malaya’s STEM Centre, Ir. Dr. Mas Sahidayana Mohktar, highlighted the importance of the initiative in fostering a generation of changemakers. “It has been inspiring to witness the energy and creativity of our students throughout this journey. We are proud to continue being a part of this initiative and support the next generation,” she stated. Dr. Mohktar also encouraged those who did not make the shortlist, underscoring the value of their contributions and innovations.
The top 10 semi-finalist teams will participate in a Design Thinking Workshop (DTW) on October 11, 2025. This workshop will provide an opportunity for teams to present their ideas to a panel of judges and receive feedback from both Samsung Malaysia and Universiti Malaya. Mentors will assist teams in refining their concepts, ensuring that they are technically feasible and scalable to effectively address real-world challenges.
The grand finale will take place on December 6, 2025, where the winners will be announced and awarded exciting prizes. The event promises to be a celebration of innovation, creativity, and the dedication of Malaysia’s youth to making a positive impact in their communities.
