Samsung Malaysia Announces Top 10 Semi-Finalists for 2025 Challenge
Samsung Malaysia Electronics has revealed the top 10 semi-finalists for the 2025 Solve for Tomorrow initiative, a challenge designed to encourage students to tackle real-world issues using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) principles. The announcement was made on October 6, 2025, following participation from over 210 students and mentors across Malaysia.
The selected teams were chosen after a thorough review by a panel of esteemed judges, highlighting the innovative ideas and commitment to social impact demonstrated by the participants. The Solve for Tomorrow program aims to empower youth to apply their classroom knowledge to address pressing challenges, including sustainability, education, health, and sports.
Encouraging Innovation and Growth
Elaine Soh, Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Malaysia, expressed her admiration for the creativity displayed by the participants. “Each year, we are inspired by the creativity and passion of our youth,” she stated. “Solve for Tomorrow is more than just a competition; it is a platform that empowers young minds to turn ideas into impactful solutions for real-world challenges. Beyond STEM knowledge, they are also developing vital life skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, and public speaking, all essential for their future success.”
The semi-finalists will participate in a Design Thinking Workshop on October 11, 2025. During this session, teams will present their ideas to judges and receive constructive feedback from both Samsung Malaysia and Universiti Malaya. Mentors will be on hand to assist the teams in refining their concepts, ensuring technical feasibility, and enhancing the scalability of their solutions.
Looking Ahead to the Grand Finale
Following the workshop, the teams will refine their solutions in preparation for the grand finale, which is set to take place on December 6, 2025. At this event, the winners will be announced and awarded exciting prizes, further incentivizing the next generation of innovators.
Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Mas Sahidayana Mohktar, Director of Universiti Malaya’s STEM Centre, praised the initiative for fostering critical thinking and innovation among students. “Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a movement that encourages youth to think critically and act boldly. We are proud to continue being a part of this initiative and support the next generation of changemakers.”
Participants not selected this year were encouraged to continue their innovative pursuits. Dr. Mohktar emphasized the importance of their contributions, saying, “By stepping forward, sharing your ideas, and taking part in this journey, you have already made a meaningful impact. Your courage to innovate and contribute deserves a big round of applause.”
