Poly Auction Hong Kong will present its highly anticipated Autumn Auctions 2025 from October 3 to 9 at the Shun Tak Centre. This event promises to be a premier gathering for art collectors, featuring a diverse selection of artistic treasures that blend heritage value with investment potential.
The auction preview will run from October 3 to 8, culminating in live auctions scheduled for October 7 to 9 on the fourth floor of the Shun Tak Centre. In the lead-up to the main event, a Highlights Preview will showcase select key lots from September 24 to 29 at the Poly Gallery in Hong Kong. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts to view a curated selection of significant pieces that will be auctioned.
Highlights from Modern and Contemporary Art
This season, the Modern and Contemporary Art Department will feature exceptional works that reflect current global trends, revisit iconic 20th-century masterpieces, and celebrate the innovation of Chinese contemporary art.
Among the standout pieces is Zhou Chunya‘s *Peach Blossoms*, which transforms traditional motifs into vivid expressions that engage with both Eastern and Western art traditions. The painting bridges classical and modern aesthetics, showcasing Zhou’s fluid strokes that resonate with the energy of Abstract Expressionism.
Another notable work is Wu Dayu‘s *Rhymes of Beijing Opera-52*, created circa 1980. This piece marks a significant evolution in Wu’s artistic journey, emphasizing the interplay of lines, colors, and spatial relationships. Its rhythmic brushstrokes draw inspiration from the dynamic movements of Beijing Opera, showcasing a bold vision that redefines modern Chinese art.
The auction will also include Anish Kapoor‘s *Mirror (Brandy Wine to Laser Red mix2 Brandy Wine)*, which creates a striking visual dialogue with its environment. This piece exemplifies Kapoor’s exploration of spatial concepts and challenges traditional perceptions of form and emptiness.
Additionally, Yayoi Kusama‘s *Dots Obsession*, painted in 2001, will be featured. This work encapsulates Kusama’s fascination with infinity and cosmic order, reflecting her significant evolution as an artist.
Exceptional Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art
The Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art Department will present three curated sales highlighting significant historical pieces. Among these is a Junyao purple and blue-glazed ‘numbered six’ tripod narcissus bowl, dating from the Yuan to early Ming dynasty. Its elegant form and impeccable provenance underscore its rarity and significance in Chinese art history.
A fine ‘robin’s egg’-glazed vase from the Yongzheng period will also be showcased, admired for its simple yet elegant design. Another highlight includes a rare, large carved polychrome lacquer ‘archaistic’ vase with deer handles from the Qianlong period, reflecting the intricate craftsmanship of its time.
In addition, an important archaic bronze ritual food vessel from the Western Zhou dynasty, inscribed with historical significance, will be presented alongside a gilt bronze figure of Kapaladhara Hevajra from the early Ming dynasty, noted for its quality and craftsmanship.
As the Autumn Auctions approach, collectors and art lovers alike can look forward to an extraordinary array of works that celebrate the rich cultural heritage and artistic innovation represented at Poly Auction Hong Kong. The event not only promises exceptional pieces but also serves as a platform for promoting global art and culture.
