Earlier in the day, De Minaur demonstrated his skill by defeating Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-4 at the Chase Center. This victory marked De Minaur’s third win against Zverev in their 11 career meetings, helping to erase Team Europe’s early advantage. After racing to a 5-0 lead in the opening set, he highlighted the importance of a strong start against top-10 players.

“It’s a part of my game that I’ve definitely unlocked over the last two years,” De Minaur explained. “These guys, they hit the ball so hard and so big. I’ve got to find different ways to hurt them. I’ve got the ability to use my speed not only to retrieve but also sneak into the net.”

In another key match, Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina defeated Rune 6-3, 7-6(5), providing Team World with a 5-3 lead before Fritz’s pivotal win.
