Jeanette Aw and Romeo Tan Celebrate Wrap of Highway To Somewhere

The filming for the upcoming drama Highway To Somewhere has officially concluded, marking a significant return for Jeanette Aw in her first lead role in six years. The show, set to premiere in March 2026 on Channel 8 and mewatch, is a road trip mystery that intertwines suspense with an intimate character study.
The narrative centers around a couple married for 15 years whose relationship begins to fray. In an effort to rekindle their bond, they embark on a self-drive holiday overseas, only to be confronted by a mysterious figure from the wife’s past. This encounter forces them to face long-buried secrets and unresolved resentments.
Production Insights and Locations
Aw reunites with long-time co-star Romeo Tan for this project, a pairing that has excited fans. Tan, in a previous interview with CNA Lifestyle, detailed that filming took place in Malaysia over two months, taking them on a journey “from Johor Bahru all the way up to Kuala Lumpur.” The crew also filmed in various locations including Ipoh, Kukup, and Port Dickson.
To commemorate the end of production, both Aw and Tan shared thoughtful posts on social media. Aw expressed her appreciation for the artistry involved, stating, “The poetry of the lens, the warmth of the lighting, and the effort put in by the director makes the whole story shine with a unique light.”
In earlier discussions with media, Aw revealed that the emotional depth of the script was a significant factor in her decision to return to a full production for the first time since 2019’s After The Stars.
Tan shared his own reflections on working with Aw again, noting how their reunion highlighted his personal growth as an actor. He mentioned, “Working with Jeanette after all these years has shown me how I myself have grown as I have once again felt her nuance and sincerity in every shared scene.”
Behind the Scenes and Fan Engagement
The production faced its share of challenges, particularly during one intense scene where Tan was required to drag Aw out of a car and push her to the ground. Footage of this moment, shared by Aw’s manager, illustrated the light-hearted atmosphere on set, showing both actors laughing between takes despite the scene’s intensity. Tan described his feelings during the filming, stating, “Nervous, cold sweat, legs like jelly.”
Fans have responded enthusiastically to behind-the-scenes clips, eagerly anticipating the chemistry between Aw and Tan on screen. Their excitement reflects not only a shared history but also the compelling nature of the story being told.
As the premiere date approaches, anticipation builds for Highway To Somewhere, promising a gripping exploration of love, secrets, and the complexities of relationships.
