Rui En, a well-known actress from Singapore, has introduced a new line of artisanal mooncakes infused with collagen and premium tea. This initiative not only showcases her culinary ventures but also aims to support an 80-year-old widower, Mr. Tan, who has dedicated his life to caring for his adult daughter with disabilities. A portion of the proceeds from these mooncakes will provide assistance to Mr. Tan, highlighting the importance of community support during the festive season.

The 44-year-old actress, who previously launched a snack campaign during Chinese New Year with proceeds benefiting children with disabilities, has partnered with the esteemed Singaporean tea brand, Gryphon, for this latest project. The new mooncake collection features two unique flavors, each enriched with 10,000mg of marine collagen and infused with Gryphon tea.

Rui En learned about Mr. Tan’s situation through her connections in the entertainment industry. She was particularly moved by stories of elderly caregivers who often fear leaving their children with disabilities alone. This emotional connection made the decision to support Mr. Tan an easy one for Rui En. She stated, “Mid-Autumn Festival is about reunion and family unity. After the overwhelming response to our Chinese New Year bak kwa, we wanted to continue that spirit of love. These mooncakes are more than festive treats; they are a small way to honour caregivers like Mr. Tan, who give so much of themselves every day.”

Artisanal Treats for a Cause

The collaboration with Gryphon was born from Rui En’s genuine interest in their teas, according to her public relations representative. The mooncakes are crafted in partnership with a trusted local bakery, ensuring high quality and distinct flavors. The two flavors available are the Pearl of the Orient Baked Skin Mooncake, which includes jasmine green tea-perfumed white lotus paste with crimson rose and collagen, and the Mandarin Osmanthus, featuring white lotus paste steeped with osmanthus pouchong tea and candied orange peel, also infused with collagen.

Additionally, Rui En is offering petite Mao Shan Wang snow skin mooncakes made with durians sourced from Pahang, Malaysia. These mooncakes hold special significance for Rui En, as she had the opportunity to introduce Mr. Tan to his first taste of durian mooncakes during a promotional shoot for her brand.

For those interested in purchasing these mooncakes, a bundle is available that includes one box of baked collagen and tea mooncakes alongside a box of durian snow skin mooncakes, priced at S$196. Pre-orders for the mooncakes will begin at 8 PM on September 11, 2023, through En’s official website.

Rui En’s initiative not only highlights her entrepreneurial spirit but also underscores the importance of supporting those who dedicate their lives to caregiving. By merging culinary art with philanthropy, she aims to create a positive impact in her community during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
