BTS Agency Confirms Jimin’s Past Relationship with Song Da-eun
Big Hit Music, the agency representing the globally renowned K-pop group BTS, confirmed on August 31, 2023, that member Jimin was previously in a relationship with actress Song Da-eun. The agency clarified that the relationship has ended, following speculation ignited by a recent viral video of Song surprising Jimin as he exited an elevator.
The video, which gained significant attention online, reignited longstanding rumors about the pair’s connection. Speculation regarding their relationship first emerged in 2022 when fans observed what they believed to be signs of their romance, such as matching accessories and their presence at the same events.
Agency Addresses Speculation
In their statement, Big Hit Music explained that they had initially chosen to remain silent on the matter “out of respect for Jimin’s personal life” and for Song. However, the agency felt compelled to clarify the situation due to the proliferation of speculative reports and false rumors surrounding Jimin’s private life. The statement read, “Jimin and the individual had mutual feelings and a connection, but that was several years ago and they are not in a relationship now.”
Big Hit Music urged fans and media alike to refrain from making “reckless speculations” about Jimin’s personal life and requested that they avoid actions that could potentially harm both Jimin and Song. This marks a notable instance as it is the first time the agency has publicly confirmed a dating rumor involving a member of BTS.
Impact on Fans and Media Dynamics
This revelation has sparked a mixed response among fans, some of whom have taken to social media to express their support for both Jimin and Song. Others have voiced concerns over the intense scrutiny that public figures often face regarding their personal relationships. The situation highlights the challenges that celebrities encounter when navigating public interest in their private lives.
As the fallout from this news continues, it remains to be seen how it will affect both Jimin and Song’s careers, as well as their standing with fans. For now, Big Hit Music’s call for respect and privacy underscores the importance of boundaries in the world of celebrity culture.
